The average viewership increase From DVR Viewing ranks which of the top broadcast shows [by Live+7 viewers] had the largest absolute increase in average viewership by DVR between the Live + Same Day and Live + 7 day ratings measurements.

Definitions:

DVR (Time-shifted) Adults 18-49 Ratings – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data LiveLive+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs.

Live+Same Day(Live+SD) ratings include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing.

Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

DVR Ratings Increase Past Airdate - How many people watched the show on their DVRs within 7 days following the airdate

Until the 2009-2010 season, we used a show's LIVE program rating or viewership as the base upon which the LIVE+7 day DVR viewing was added. Now, the press seems to be standardizing around using LIVE+SAME DAY DVR viewing as the base for the calculations, so that's what we do now as well.

Do the Live+7 ratings tell us anything about a show's renewal prospects we didn't already know from the Live+Same Day ratings?  No.  Click here to learn more.

    @ Amanda Kondolojy

Thank you very much for the Vampire Diaries ratings info, that’s great! :) I know this is a REALLY long shot, but I don’t suppose by any teeny, tiny chance you also happen to know what the L+7 rating was for the Vampire Diaries episode that aired on 7 November, do you? (I did ask at the time but nobody answered.) If you do know, I’d really appreciate it! :)

  • Midnight

Good for Elementary and The Tomorrow People!

  • Kaio

What about Hart of Dixie? :/

  • tea

    Good numbers for Grey’s Anatomy

  • Ram510

Happy to see The Goldbergs on the list, I wish more people would watch live.

It seems like a lot of people DVR ABC shows the most

I’m surprised Nikita isn’t on this percentage list

  • jessica

hahahahah @AllOfHerTw!st , and people saying that glee’s rating will be hurt due to the fact that PLL airs at the same hour and share the demo , they are only going to compete in 4 episodes until pll ends it season..

  • Noel

Strange Dracula is not here but I guess it was a day the show didn’t air.

  • Adir

Yes for The Tomorrow People it’s a really good show!

  • Rob R

Fascinating list. By reading this you discover unexpected information, like more people eventually watch “Blue Bloods” than “Modern Family.” And more folks watch “The Good Wife” than “Grey’s Anatomy.” Not what you would expect by reading media articles. Of course, they aren’t the “right kind” of people (younger people).

  • Concerned gleek

@AllofherTw!st Sorry to disappoint you but Bones is on Friday glee is on Tuesdays @ 8pm now

  • Jami

Must be some reason why they post Live +7.
Most people do not watch live anymore. To many shows to watch. Cable. Dvr this is the 21st century got to live with the numbers or just keep canceling ever show NBC. That certainly will not help you. However a Live Musical will put asses in the seats.
REVOLUTION seems to do well in the Live +7. nice increase in viewers. I wish it did a 2.3 live with 8 million viewers.
I have not seen the NBC comedy line up for a few weeks.
NBC put on Wednesday at 8pm hope they can live with the numbers. I can. I love that show and it keeps getting better, in spite of the plot holes, like every show on television. LOL.

  • Sashay

I have to think this helps give Elementary some kind of a boost in CBS eyes. I imagine they’d try to move rather than cancel. All it needs is a third year and its almost guaranteed a fourth.

  • Jami

oops just saw Parks and Recreations. Don’t watch the show. I am bad.

  • SerferTJ

    Yay for Nashville and Elementary!
This list is telling me 2 things about these shows

    1) If Elementary wasn’t airing against Mega-Hit Scandal, it would be performing better. There’s a big audience for the show, but I’m sure Scandal steals a lot of their live 18-49 viewers.

    2) Nashville would probably perform noticeably better at 9:00 p.m. Its too bad ABC doesn’t have a good 9:00pm spot available.

  • Linda E.

Nice increases for HF-0, for whatever they’re worth. Yay !!!

  • SHERI

    AWESOME for Hawaii 5-0 !!!

  • Stacie

    Yay for Revolution!!!
