We're into the holiday season for the Renew / Cancel Index and this post before the Cancellation Bear's holiday break gives readers a chance to pick which shows they'd cancel were they a network programmer. You can vote as many times as you'd like, pick as many as you'd like. I've included every show still on the air, even canceled ones, so that no one feels left out!

Scheduling note: The Renew / Cancel Index will return with new Indexes and predictions on January 7, 2014 and will then only use the ratings since December 30, 2013 for its calculations for the remainder of the season. Expect some prediction changes in the first weeks of 2014.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2014
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2014
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2014
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2014
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2014

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

I would cancel The Simpsons, Raising Hope, The Mindy Project, Dads, Bob’s Burgers(or get a sweet licensing deal out of TBS or AS), Glee, American Dad (moving to TBS anyway), and Family Guy (see Bob’s Burgers).

  • One

I picked everything except Mondays, Raising Hope, Brooklyn 9-9, Bones, and I think Bob’s Burgers. Other than that, Fox can bite me.

  • Katiebug

    Dads and Almost Human.
Why put shows that are already renewed in the poll?

  • gerry

dads, glee (if it could be), almost human and raising hope (only because its hit syndication and the ratings are low)

  • NJ Viewer

    Glee has run its course.

  • Jessica

Almost Human. After Season 2 Sleepy Hollow will be cancelled too. Almost Human’s ratings were so pathetic. Great promotion but they already saw 1.7 in Season 1. Sleepy Hollow’s ratings keep dropping every episodes. So.

  • Jeff (Canada)

Obviously Family Guy is going to get renewed, but is there a cutoff date as to when we can expect the announcement? I ask because of how long it takes to make the episodes.

  • PurpleDrazi

I would ask Santa to save Raising Hope for me this Christmas but not even he is that powerful. :-(

  • Carmen

    @ Bill

In your cut and pasting between the networks, I think you forgot to delete the comment about CSI and Elementary from the Fox poll post.

  • Sally

The observant will note that CSI and Elementary are now “certain to be renewed”, no room in the headline for them this week, they’ll have to wait until January.

This part should be in the CBS renew/cancel article :)

“This part should be in the CBS renew/cancel article “

    D’oh! Moved!

  • Nancy

Glee, Dads, and I’ll throw in X-Factor too.

  • Carmen

Glee has had its day and its time to let it go.

Raising Hope I still enjoy, but it has lost a step and that is being reflected in the ratings. Just have to accept that it will be gone.

Almost Human doesn’t appear that its going to make it. Speaking for myself, I don’t care. I’ve never been a fan of post-apocalyptic futuristic type shows.

Dads will be gone despite the Seth McFarlane involvement

Mindy, I hope it stays, but looks doubtful.

  • Dan S

Even though it has 1 more season I voted for Glee. I also say so long to RH (Sorry) & Dads.

  • Rock

Everything should go except for The Simpsons, Family Guy, Dads ,Raising Hope and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. That said; Raising Hope was on the bubble until the Burt Bucks episode which was brilliant! Also, welcome back to the family Brian!

  • Mike

The Mindy Project has gotten awesome. Really found its footing in Season 2. I found the first season a chore to get through. Some episodes were good but others weren’t. It was a mixed bag. But the difference between Season 1 and Season 2 is like the difference between Parks & Recreation Season 1 and Season 2. I actually don’t think it will get cancelled. I believe they’ll want to stay in bed with Mindy Kaling and I’m sure they’re really pleased with the quality of this season. It’s a good fit with New Girl. I’m glad I stuck with this show.

Dads definitely needs to go though. It’s a terrible show.

Raising Hope got screwed this year. Stupid Seth McFarlane deciding to do a sitcom.

  • Mathew

Things that should be back. Raising hope (doubtful), glee, Brooklyn nine nine, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Bob’s burgers

  • THE OLD MAN

Dads, AH, TMP & regrettably RH
