Talented Newcomer Takes the Prestigious Crown Under Coach Adam Levine’s Tutelage

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — Dec. 17, 2013 — Tessanne Chin has been crowned as the season-five champion of NBC’s Emmy Award-winning musical competition series “The Voice.”

A member of Adam Levine’s team, Chin comes from a musical family and previously sang backup for reggae legend Jimmy Cliff. She hopes her win on “The Voice” will allow her music to find a global reach.

“The Voice” is the season’s #1 unscripted series on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in every key demographic – adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 – plus kids 2-11 and teens 12-17.  Through the first 12 weeks of the season, “The Voice” is averaging a 4.9 rating, 13 share in adults 18-49 and 14.8 million viewers overall on Monday nights and a 4.4/12 in 18-49 and 14.0 million viewers on Tuesdays, according to “most current” averages from Nielsen Media Research, making “The Voice” the #5 series, the #4 entertainment series and #1 unscripted series on the Big 4 in adults 18-49 (rankings excludes sports pre- and post-game shows).

One Three Media (a Hearst | Mark Burnett company), Talpa Media USA Inc. and Warner Horizon Television. The series was created by John de Mol, who executive produces along with Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Stijn Bakkers and Lee Metzger.

So many Jamaican and other island celebrities have come out to support her these last couple of weeks and with the help of Ryan Tedder for her album I think she can really make it, perhaps even more so than Philip Philips who is the last true star in many years of singing competitions despite that he’s a virtual unknown in Europe and the other continents abroad. Cassadee Pope went gold and I think Tessanne could have a platinum single with the right push. I’m excited about her album, Ryan said they were going to work as early as January.

I feel bad for the people who havent watched the finale and they saw the headline. Shouldnt it just say “The Voice Winner Announced”

  • Samunto

With you on that one. But most fans of these Reality competitions watch the shows live and esp hardly miss the finale. You can see that it doesn’t add so many viewers via DVR.

    Great show last night.

thx for spoiling it in the headline tvbythenumbers!

This is why I am now not watching every episode – Jackie should have won…the viewers don’t know what they are doing. They vote for the artist on tv then they don’t buy the records.

Jacquie is great for her age, but she’s not the finished product. Lots of viewers complain about her shouting. Tessanne is more composed and experienced and the rightful winner.
