IStandWithPhil.com Petition Drive Calls for Phil Robertson’s Immediate Return to Duck Dynasty

Petitioners ask A&E to cease its discriminatory censorship of Mr. Robertson and to treat people of faith with equality, fairness, and true tolerance

(Raleigh, NC – December 19, 2013) — Faith Driven Consumer, an organization connecting Christian consumers with faith-compatible companies, has launched the IStandWithPhil.com petition drive, which calls for The A&E Network to immediately reinstate Mr. Phil Robertson to its #1 hit show, Duck DynastyIStandWithPhil.com is garnering strong support from Faith Driven Consumers with its call for tolerance, fairness, and respect for differing viewpoints in America’s rainbow of diversity.

“Simply put, Phil Robertson is being censored and punished for quoting the Bible, and A&E’s treatment of him is punitive and highly discriminatory, ” said Chris Stone, founder of Faith Driven Consumer. “Everyday people will not stand for this, they know bullying and violation of religious freedom when they see it. A&E’s actions are censoring Faith Driven Consumers and eliminating them from an entertainment choice that they have overwhelmingly supported.”

IStandWithPhil.com is leading the charge in the call for fairness and equality as we defend the fundamental American right to free speech and tradition of tolerance.”

The IStandWithPhil.com online petition drive cites the A&E network’s “intolerant, discriminatory, and punitive treatment” of the Duck Dynasty star, noting that “A&E's position, which in your own words is ‘championing’ the gay and lesbian community…excludes the views of Faith Driven Consumers and effectively censors a legitimate viewpoint held by the majority of Americans.” IStandWithPhil.com calls for respect for the millions of viewers of the show, and demands that the network immediately reinstate Mr. Robertson and “formally apologize to him, his family, and the millions of viewers who tune in every week, stand by him, and share his worldview.”

The complete petition can be seen here:

The 46 million strong Faith Driven Consumer market segment, which spends 1.75 trillion dollars annually, is rallying in support of Mr. Robertson and is closely watching the network’s response. In addition to breaking nearly every cable TV record and bringing in huge dollars for A&E, Duck Dynasty’s product tie-ins are projected to bring in more than $400 million dollars in revenue by the end of 2013. There are more than 75 licensing deals in effect and more than 1,200 Robertson-related products currently available in stores nationwide this Christmas shopping season.

    What Hath God Wrought?

It’s interesting how people who yell about tolerance blatantly disregard it themselves, and furthermore, try to inflict financial blackmail on anyone they disagree with. Yes, I’m talking about YOU, GLAAD, and all the other jerks who have destroyed small businessmen and the work that fed their families because their religious beliefs forbade them to help with gay “weddings”. This has gone far enough. Time for some pushback.

  • Mike

    What morons.

His comments weren’t Christian. His viewpoint isn’t Christian. His viewpoint is bigoted. He crossed the line when he compared homosexuals to those that practice bestiality, and to drunks and prostitutes. That’s not in the Bible, but you know what is? “Judge not lest you be judged” and “Love thy neighbor.” He crossed the line in an early interview when he said that pre-Civil Rights blacks were perfectly happy with their standing in the world.

And the number of idiots on Facebook and Twitter and elsewhere claiming that his free speech rights are being violated is astounding. Last I checked, A&E isn’t the government and the Constitution doesn’t apply. He was within his rights to say what he did, but freedom of speech doesn’t give him freedom from consequence. A&E had every right to fire him. Do you think Best Buy or any other public-facing business would keep a high profile employee on after that make such bigoted and offensive comments? Absolutely not.

I get that people like and watch this show and are blindly backing one of their favorite personalities, but sheesh… get a grip.

  • Owen

Ah yes, the old “you’re intolerant if you don’t tolerate my intolerance” argument. A classic.

  • Carl

Where does the Bible talk about how black people were happier before welfare? Where does it crudely talk about anus and vagina?

It’s funny how free speech only ever applies to people who make comments against people of color, women, queer people, etc. Why is that?

“Yes, I’m talking about YOU, GLAAD, and all the other jerks who have destroyed small businessmen and the work that fed their families because their religious beliefs forbade them to help with gay “weddings”.”

GLAAD has nothing to do with small businesses or wedding plans. They focus on the entertainment industry.

I’ve read some of the things that Phil Robertson said that got him in trouble and I doubt that some of it could be repeated here and I definitatly don’t remember it from bible school. I’m surpised that Faith Driven Consumer didn’t try to tie this with some dopey “War on Christmas” effort as well.

I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with what A&E did, but A&E does have the right to do whatever it wants with its own show.
But what did A&E expect was going to happen when you have a reality show with a bunch of hillbillies anyway?

  • Samunto

This is ridiculous. And you know this organisation is just seeking some attention just so people know it exists. Did Phil just start it?

I don’t know what bible Phil was apparently quoting but mine says love everyone. Mine also has a part where Jesus asked those without sin to stone the prostitute and no one did.
Frankly, no one understands the bible as it has conflicting statements.

That aside, who is he to judge anyone? I stand for Tolerance and acceptance. Clearly this man is delusional if the whole interview is anything to go by.

Why can’t we all live together in peace? At most people should throw each other the evil side eye!

  • Mark

Hey…….as long as “The First 48″ is still on. I could care less.

  • JJA

A&E is throwing away a very lucrative enterprise for NOTHING.

Phil merely expressed an opinion, which is consistent with the teachings of Christianity, the most prevalent religion of North America.

He did NOT use slurs. He did NOT condemn anyone, merely expressed disapproval. In the end, he said he does not judge anyone, leaving that to God. So what’s the problem?

Anyway, some other network is likely to pick up Duck Dynasty, and Phil will probably make a fortune by writing a book on the subject.

  • Carl

“Phil merely expressed an opinion, which is consistent with the teachings of Christianity, the most prevalent religion of North America.”

What does Christianity say about black people only being happy in the days before welfare?

  • mary 1

Sure JJA Did you see his quote about the love of vagina versus the anus? That’s consistent with the teachings of Christianity? Seems to me he was talking the most about how he got off & how he couldn’t understand gay sex and not about anything spiritual or religious. What a joke. He was offensive. He said offensive things about gay people. He said offensive things about black people. He was suspended for it. Big WHOOP.

A&E is free to fire or suspend whoever they want. Not even concerned about these group of backward thinking millionaires. A&E should maybe consider not having shows appealing to the lowest common denominators.

  • xwiseguyx

I wonder how many of these idiot commenters would feel the same way if he said we should re-enstate slavery. After all, the bible endorses it. These are hypocrites who can only justify free speech when it doesn’t affect them.

  • Carl

@mary, exactly. How many people have actually read the article? He said incredibly disgusting things. Is this really what people see Christianity as being? How sad.

  • Sel

This is ridiculous, I mean I’m gay and I enjoy watching “Duck Dynasty”, and didn’t get offended by his comment, if I may call it a comment…Let’s face it – Southern hospitality is on the verge of Southern hostility. People would never accept us as human beings with such stupid decisions after a trifle slur from a hillbilly.

  • dust

Screw him and his imaginary bible character friends.

  • JOE

The Bible does not “endorse slavery”….ignorant rant.

Read a history book on various cultures all over the world…you will see that slavery was a part of human existance…

  • Hujo21

    I stand with Phil.

  • Steph

@Mary… I agree with you 100%! His comments were crass and went beyond stating his belief that homosexuality is a sin. Liberal TV personalities get suspended too. Sometimes people just go too far, and it’s A&E’s right to suspend him.

  • Beverly

A petition signed exclusively by illiterates must be amusing to see. I imagine there are a lot of X’s on the signature lines.

  • Freyja

As I said before, the world would be a better place if people stopped being politically correct and telling others they are wrong in how they feel.

Just stop being PC and live your life..

This goes for both sides, which are being complete jackwagons about it.
