Several years ago I used to correspond with a guy that was an moderator on one of the soap sites. He may still be but I lost contact with him. He said that it was constantly something they had to be on the watch for…checking URL’s to make sure people didn’t have multiple accounts. And he said it happened more often than you would think.

He told me about one guy who created 30 different accounts in one day.

    @Mike That’s actually quite sad.

I really enjoyed that classic episode of Y&R they played on NYE. CBS did that at Thanksgiving also, I believe. It’s so great to see how much, and how little, has changed on these shows over the years. I must say, Sharon Case has aged beautifully. So has Peter Bergman. Loved seeing Jack and Brad interact too. Classic Katherine and Jill bickering was fun too. Esther’s maid costume hasn’t changed a bit. lol. I actually enjoyed seeing Victor and Nikki. Now they are mostly FF material for me. Wonder how those classic episodes effect the ratings?

Can’t believe Days is still down. The writing has been better lately. I’d still love to see more of Josh Taylor.
Perhaps the ‘Father Eric’ story line with Kristen turned people off. I much preferred him as a priest rather than just another male cast member. He was very convincing in the role. Nichole was at her best as Eric’s co-worker, without all the romantic stuff.
Kristen Alfonso has been wonderful taking on the duties as single-handed police woman. She has made her character more interesting than ever.
Tiring of the constant ‘ripping apart Jennifer/Daniel’ story line. Honestly.
Questioning the Gabi/Kate/Sami/EJ/Sonny/Will murder storyline…pretty soon everyone in Salem will know except the judge…it IS humorous though,(I think it’s supposed to be.)

Anyone know how the View’s ratings have been? I watched for the first time in a while and found it bland and disinteresting.

We all will finally get to see some proof of whether or not all of those people upset about the departure of Chandler Massey from “Days” will actually negatively affect the ratings. Today – January 2 – is the last time that Massey will appear on-screen as Will Horton. Guy Wilson will assume the role next week – on Wednesday, January 8.

If the numbers for the week of Jan. 6 are as good, or better, than the numbers for the week of Dec. 30, then we can conclude that switching out popular actors doesn’t really translate into lower viewers. I wonder if the producers of Y&R will pay more attention to the numbers at “Days” during those two weeks as well…since they will soon be dealing with their own popular actor departures later this month.

  • Mike

I just wonder when we will see ratings again. We are waiting on the ratings for the week before Christmas. Nielsen is so far behind it is no telling if we will even see them this week at all. The way the holidays fell this year in the middle of the week really messed with things.

We should have gotten the Christmas week ratings this week but we didn’t even get the week before yet. Weird.

OH and for people who are still pushing the other forms of viewing thing ABC is proving once again how important Live viewing still is.

They are joining Fox and others soon in limiting access to first run episodes. They won’t be releasing new episodes of their shows to certain avenues for a week now except to things like Hulu Plus which will require people to subscribe to them.

This will either force viewers to watch them on their sites, subscribe to things like Hulu Plus or watch them live.

To me it hasn’t really raised Fox’ ratings much but it must be working some because Fox has not reversed their decision. And now ABC is joining them.

The alternate forms of viewing are helping viewers but they aren’t helping the networks and thus helping our shows.

ABC and Sony they say are also hitting You Tube quite often now and removing full episodes of GH, Y&R, and Days. I can’t say 100% on that since I don’t look for them on You Tube anymore.

  • Bexx

Seems this place is just as nasty even without all my troublemaking.

  • PatF

Good Lord…Is SON shutdown for the holidays?

  • Mike

No PatF, they have been publishing more stuff this last week than they have in quite awhile, but they haven’t gotten the ratings yet.

The late night TV ratings are usually released each week right before the soap opera ratings and they haven’t been released either for the last 2 weeks. So they are just as far behind. So it is all Nielsen. Then SON has to wait for their source to release them to them.

I think the best hope is to get the ratings for the 16th to 20th maybe this weekend some time.

Did anyone see the press release from ABC touting their New York’s Channel 7 being the Number 1 station in the country for 2013?

They mention every show by name in the daytime hours except GH as part of the channel’s success and mentions many parts of the prime time schedule by name.

SON contacted the station about it and got a statement about them on GH which said that GH was the most watched show between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. but ABC didn’t mention the show at all in its press release. It did mention The View and The Chew as well as Live with Kelly and Michael.

Talk about a big oversight or is it that ABC still isn’t as behind GH as they want people to think.

  • MBmomof3

Mike, I saw the ABC press release and SON’s statement about GH being the most watched daytime show in NYC. I’d say it’s a pretty big oversight on ABC’s part not to mention GH. Another load of ABCrap.

  • JayTN

Mike, I think ABC is behind GH as much as they are behind any of their other shows, either daytime or primetime. However, some people would like to think that just because its ratings are on an upswing that GH is good for years to come. These same people thought the same thing about AMC and OLTL and we saw what happened there. ABC will continue to air GH as long as they can make an acceptable profit from it. When the time comes that it can no longer do that, it will get canceled…regardless of what the actual viewer total is. I’m not saying this to be “anti-GH” or anything, that is just the way the TV business works. The networks have to make money and their revenue streams are becoming less and less with the advent of each new technology, so those shows that can be used to make a profit are becoming more and more rare and more and more treasured by the networks.

Gotta love the TMZ story on Muhney. Can’t help but laugh at those who are so called ‘boycotting’ and ‘dropping’ Y&R’s ratings. C’est la vie!

  • Mike

Wow TMZ has broke the story on Michael Muhney and the girl who plays Summer now. Alledgedly he did grab her chest not just once but twice and she conmplained to higher ups and they fired him.

What I cannot believe are people are making You Tube videos saying how ugly she is and that she should be flattered a guy like Muhney wanted her. And other fans are blaming her saying she lured him.

Have some soap fans truly bought into all the soap stories that women really want to be raped. I just can’t deal with type of soap fan and just have no use for them. Muhney is a 38 year old married man with kids. He had no business groping a young girl at work. And then bring up his wife and his sister with cancer to try to make fans feel sorry for him.

Sorry if this is true then he should have been fired. If any of the rest of us had done what he did we would be fired too.

When you have women buying 70 million copies of 50 Shades of Grey, what do you expect? A book about a powerful, controlling, abusive sex addict who preys on a young innocent girl. The victim will always be blamed, and most of the people doing the attacking are ‘adult’ women.

If Muhney did this he’s a sad excuse, there is no way he could ever justify it, it’s not like they are romantically involved on the show, where he could call it an accident. He had to seek her out to sexually assault her. I hope Hunter doesn’t allow this backlash to force her to leave the show.

  • Mike

I just wonder if CBS or Sony leaked the story to TMZ after Maria Bells’ comments this past week. We definitely have a new breed of writers/producers who loved to fire off comments about the shows they formerly worked on. Definitely not professional at all.

Either her husband’s family have absolutely no clue as to what is going on at the set anymore or MAB just doesn’t care and wants to get her 15 minutes of fame any way she can.

  • Tom

In the days of strong EP,s , MM’ behavior would not have been tolerated for as long as it has on YR. The Emmy vetching about how dare Tony Geary get another Emmy did it for me. The guy sounded like a real a hole on twitter. If Gloria Monty, Paul raunch, or Jon Conboy had been in charge the man would have straightened up or been bounced years ago. It seems certain EP’s have more control than others.

  • MBmomof3

All I can say about the MM/HK story is that if true as reported, and I’m not saying it is or isn’t, I have to give Hunter King props for coming forward and reporting the bullying behavior and assaults. That is a very difficult position for any young woman to be in and have the courage to report it. It is all very complicated for all parties, including the employer, but especially the victim.
