The average viewership increase From DVR Viewing ranks which of the top broadcast shows [by Live+7 viewers] had the largest absolute increase in average viewership by DVR between the Live + Same Day and Live + 7 day ratings measurements.

Definitions:

DVR (Time-shifted) Adults 18-49 Ratings – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data LiveLive+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs.

Live+Same Day(Live+SD) ratings include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing.

Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

DVR Ratings Increase Past Airdate - How many people watched the show on their DVRs within 7 days following the airdate

Until the 2009-2010 season, we used a show's LIVE program rating or viewership as the base upon which the LIVE+7 day DVR viewing was added. Now, the press seems to be standardizing around using LIVE+SAME DAY DVR viewing as the base for the calculations, so that's what we do now as well.

Do the Live+7 ratings tell us anything about a show's renewal prospects we didn't already know from the Live+Same Day ratings?  No.  Click here to learn more.

    Yay Bones :)

  • Daley

Happy for Glee! Always a front runner in DVR viewing!

  • Charmed

    Carrie :D

  • Alan

Glad to see some CW shows here.

  • Danny

Elementary always near the top of these lists with every new episode. Over 13 million viewers, and yet I constantly see people down this show here. DVR viewership IS important. The commercials DO get recorded as well. One would assume people skip the commercials, however, who says they are paying attention to them when they watch live? Am I to assume that people don’t make phone calls during commercials? How about use the restroom? Make a sandwich? etc. etc.

  • JR35

CW shows always pop up on the percentage-increase list, as the numbers are so low, that a DVR showing of .2 or higher is a huge increase. :)

  • Carmen

“Happy for Glee! Always a front runner in DVR viewing!”

That is had a big increase is misleading because it had such horrific bad live Demos to begin with when it aired originally (1.1). The final overall numbers with +7 show that it still lags behind most other Network shows not on CW, other than Fox’s own “Raising Hope” It beat “Dracula” and “Hostages” but that’s like saying a cadaver beat two other cadavers.

It’s like saying someone finished a race 20 paces behind and improved to only 15 paces behind the rest of the pack. It’s still closer to last place.

  • Valentin

Good for The Crazy Ones & Mom :)

  • josh

poor once 3.3 was in regular bases now is just sad

  • eelna

TVD 1.7 seems just a little low, to the usual 1.8/1.9.
TO is doing great with a 1.6.
As for the other shows, a 0.9 is nothing to celebrate. Hope The 100 will be a hit. Still in love in Reign.

Next week, I expect a more than 100% increase.

  • Daley

    @ Carmen

    Your opinion….it jumped from 1.1 to 2.0

  • Michael1

I’ll bet those DVR numbers for “The Blacklist” take a tumble once the Monday Night Football season comes to a close.

  • Daley

@Christian – Whatever, the show is already renewed so it really doesn’t matter

  • Ron

    Long May she Reign!

  • Tea
