Can somebody explain how they find joy in television’s two finest shows, Community and Parks and Rec., struggling in the ratings?

Who is “they”? I’ve been a Community fan since Day One. It’s about the only current sitcom I watch. I’m really hoping for the miracle sixth season.

  • derek mccabe

Not sure why I put ‘they’ to be honest. Probably listening to something else and not concentrating. I meant many of the commenters on some of the threads following these latest figures and generally after both shows have aired

  • Nick

I think a 6th season of community is significantly more likely than not.

The ratings are anemic but (1) the woeful state of NBC and (2) the fact that this season will end at 98 eps, makes the likelihood of a 6th season high imo.

The only thing that gives me pause is maybe Harmon will do something to get fired again and/or the cast will lose more main characters (two down to date) – but as long as the cast/crew are in a position to produce a short season 6, it seems to me a lock that NBC will air it.

  • derek mccabe

Dan Harmon has said he’s like a sixth season with 25 episodes and to get the show back on the schedules in an interview with IGN

    @ Derek Mccabe

Yes, I’ll bet that Dan Harmon would LOVE to have the show renewed for 25 more episodes.
Why wouldn’t he? He wouldn’t or couldn’t possibly have a personal interest in such an occurrence.

Now whether the network want to absorb another season on 1.1 to 1.4 ratings is another story.
But hey, If Dan Harmon wants it.. . .

  • @Gistobe

It’s just not NBC without Thursday night classics. That’s 20 years of Cosby, Friends, Seinfeild, The Office… many of which struggled until season 4 or 5.

If NBC is going to continue the tradition its going to be with Community. The writing, the acting, the charasma, the love- it’s there, and that’s the most difficult thing! Waiting for a show it grow into its own- that’s less difficult and NBC certainly knows how to do that, sucessfully.
