NBC was number one with adults 18-49 and  total viewers.

On NBC, NFL Football Wild Card Saturday  scored a monster 9.8 adults 18-49 rating. 

On CBS 48 Hours earned a 0.7, down two tenths from last week's preliminary 0.9 adults 18-49 rating.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    With how this NFL post season started; I wouldn’t be surprised to see this possibly grow to a 10 in the demo and 33-35 million easily.

    NBC had a real good day yesterday. The afternoon game had a 17.2/31 overnight metered market rating, which was the highest for that window since 1999.

    The night game had a 20.5/33 overnight metered market rating, which was the second highest ever for that window, behind only Colts-Jets in 2011 (20.8/33)

    That was the last Wild Card doubleheader for NBC. Starting next year, NBC gets a Wild Card game and a Divisional game.

    I will not listen to Chris Collinsworth. When the Eagles are on NBC, I MUTE him and listen to 94.1 FM Merrill Reese and Harold Carmichael. If the Eagles are not involved, I Mute Geeky Collinsworth. He’s boring , non stop yalking to tell you what I just saw. Al Michaels need a better colorman.

    Will the NFL now move the AFC Championship Game from Sunday afternoon January 19th to Saturday night January 18th with a 7:35 P.M. Eastern time kick-off??

    If the league can draw 30 million on a Saturday night for a first-round playoff game, imagine what a Saturday-night AFC Championship Game can do in the ratings, especially if it’s Denver’s Peyton Manning vs. New England’s Tom Brady.

    You might be talking 50 million viewers.

    Imagine how many more would have stayed tuned in without the biased commentary? Shameful how the commentators were so obviously HEAVILY biased towards the Eagles.

    I agree with k:Alex — a comedy that they really want to try and succeed, of course, it may only get the good ratings after NFL or The Voice. Anything else would be suicide.

    Maybe NBC should play a live NFL game 5 days a week :-P — no, that’ll NEVER happen, but it might be their only solution to be recognized again.

    Tonight (January 5th) after about 8 P.M. Eastern time, the English-language commercial broadcast networks may all be thrown “for a loop”.

    There will be two reasons:

    First, the new season of “Downton Abbey” premieres on PBS’s “Masterpiece Theatre” (don’t be surprised if some PBS stations run pledge breaks during the show).

    Second, the last of the No-Name Bowls on ESPN.

    The highest-rated commercial broadcast-network show after 8 EST may only rank third in overall viewers behind the No-Name Bowl and “Downton Abbey”.
