Yeah it does suck that Nikita had such a low lead in, but at though low levels at what point does Nikita have its own audience.

I mean last year SPN had a.3 lead in for its season premiere yet it still grew dramatically to .8. A show is really dead if your original can’t beat out a rerun lead in.

We also saw for example when originals aired a rerun SPN it did .3 new original SPN did .95.

  • Ultima

Tell me “Truth” how you can disregard the lead in difference for Nikita finale and the SPN repeat ?

Are you suggesting that so few people care about Nikita that the series finale’s rating was dependent on its lead-in?

You seem to be the most effective person here at bashing Nikita!

  • Dave

Why are we even talking about Nikita? It’s over, move on people.

I miss the show though, it was a great finale.

  • Dave

    @John A

This is why no one will ever take you seriously or sincere because you always start something you can’t finish. Leave Nikita alone, the show is dead and gone. Find a new show to latch onto, or better yet, a new hobby dude.

Why not? It’s an increase in ratings at a bad time of the year. It’s Friday. And it’s not any worse than the ratings some other shows have been getting on other days of the week. Comparing it to the top four shows on the network seems a bit pointless. It’s not as though the CW under the current management is going to be stupid enough to send one of them to Fridays.

Does it improve TCD’s chances? Who knows? But it’s not as though the TCD fans are being jerks about it and hey, it is an improvement.

It is pretty silly to think that a TCD repeat’s lead-in hurt Nikita’s series finale, isn’t it? Weren’t people tuning in to Nikita for its last hurrah rather than just holding over from TCD? What about the weeks when TCD was doing better? What was Nikita’s excuse then? I thought it was already obvious the two weren’t compatible, so what did it matter about TCD being a repeat?

    @Mark Wood
Or the time SPN grew out of the 0.3 for that Lady Gaga concert to a 0.9. Talk about a worse-than-useless lead-in.

John A: “Surprised TCD wasnt adjusted down but too little too late.”

I was also surprised that it wasn’t adjusted down. The only way The Carrie Diaries survives is if both midseason replacements for the CW bomb. If that’s the case, then continuing TCD will be cheaper than spending money on a new show that might not do better.

  • Taylor

It always makes me happy to see Grimm’s ratings get adjusted up in the final ratings. :)

  • Dan W

I still don’t get the argument of “If TCD had higher ratings, it would have gotten more episodes ordered.” I just don’t think that’s the case. Regardless of how TCD’s ratings are, there is simply no room on the schedule unless they were to cut BATB’s episode order and give it to Carrie which they aren’t going to do (can they even do that?). The 100 and Starcrossed still need to premiere as well as a new season of Whose Line Is It Anyway? so there is no way Carrie could have gotten a back 9 unless they saved it for summer. They are already taking BATB off the air (in March I think?)to make room on the schedule. A 0.4 is nothing to write home about but it is on par with the majority of the episodes for season 1. Depending on how the new shows premiere and how TTP and Reign hold up, TCD may just squeeze out a 13 episode renewal and escape death twice.

  • Jason

Make it even more crazy lady gaga back half hour was actually 0.2. So technically SPN had to build from dust. lol

  • thesnowleopard

Both midseason shows bombing is a distinct possibility. One or both may do well, but the odds are against them. In fact, we’re likely to see a good bit of show carnage before the end of spring on the CW, so if TCD can hold onto these 0.4s and 0.3s, it may still have a chance.

That’s what makes CW in the spring so interesting.

  • Truth

Definitely. Poor Jon/Bondoel is just too stupid to realize he’s doing himself more harm than good. :)

  • Carl

I don’t really think that it says anything bad about Nikita that an SPN repeat beat its finale. I can see where there were different circumstances.

With that said, I did laugh a little over this, because of someone in the Friday thread talking about how SPN’s repeat didn’t beat Nikita’s finale, and this was presented as something bad or shocking.

  • Carl

As for TCD, I just want it to get renewed so Freema Agyeman can be back. It’s nice to see her in a more fun, flashy role.

Why not? It’s an increase in ratings at a bad time of the year. It’s Friday. And it’s not any worse than the ratings some other shows have been getting on other days of the week.

No other CW original show has got a 0.2 rating on another day of the week, and apart from the failure that is BATB, none have got a 0.3 either.

  • Eelna

Last season, everyone said TCD will be cancelled. It survived. It does better than Beauty and the Beast, equal to what Hart of Dixie will do on Fridays. Whose Line will be around a 0.4 for sure. TCD is the third most streamed show, does well on iTunes and internationally. It brings a lot of money and is very cheap. Tomorrow People will fail on Mondays. A 0.5 out of Arrow? That is bad. Star-Crossed looks like a Flop. BATB is done, HOD will make it to a short fourth season on Friday. They have enough space, and Arrow, TVD and SPN and TO will never move. They will order five new series, three will air in Fall. So there is enough space for three other shows. TO and the other new shows will be renewed. And they can give either HOD a full season, and cancel TCD. OR give it a short season, and renew TCD. I pick the latter.

    The Carrie Diaries= Bubble show

  • omabin

I 100% disagree with the notion that TCD is de facto cancelled and I don’t even think it’s a certain cancellation either, but I still think it’s a likely cancellation and not a bubble show. Unless the CW moves it to summer, I don’t see where else they could air it nor why should they feel the need to carry it to syndication when it’s still so far. It would be the same as carrying a first year show like Reign or TTP.

  • John A

So Jon/Bondoel finally got banned. Surprised you guys didnt block him sooner. He may finally be gone since flop Nikita is dead.

  • Charmed

TCD was never planned to have 22 episodes considering the last episode is graduation.

  • Brandy

What’s interesting about CD is this week on fri got only a tenth lower (0.4)without a big lead in during the holiday season as TTP did (0.5) out of one of the highest leadin before the holiday on a good weekday.
