The average viewership increase From DVR Viewing ranks which of the top broadcast shows [by Live+7 viewers] had the largest absolute increase in average viewership by DVR between the Live + Same Day and Live + 7 day ratings measurements.

Definitions:

DVR (Time-shifted) Adults 18-49 Ratings – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data LiveLive+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs.

Live+Same Day(Live+SD) ratings include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing.

Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

DVR Ratings Increase Past Airdate - How many people watched the show on their DVRs within 7 days following the airdate

Until the 2009-2010 season, we used a show's LIVE program rating or viewership as the base upon which the LIVE+7 day DVR viewing was added. Now, the press seems to be standardizing around using LIVE+SAME DAY DVR viewing as the base for the calculations, so that's what we do now as well.

Do the Live+7 ratings tell us anything about a show's renewal prospects we didn't already know from the Live+Same Day ratings?  No.  Click here to learn more.

    Go Carrie :D

  • Lanae

Good for Almost Human. Maybe, just maaaaaybe, they will get a second season…

  • Jon Snow

    Great for Almost Human.

  • Percy

    YAY HAWAII FIVE-0!!!!

  • Ryan T

Season low ratings L+SD ratings for HIMYM but average L+7. Nice comeback!

  • CBSviewer

    Go NCIS :)

  • AllOfHerTw!st

    Go H50!

Almost Human, Blue Bloods, H50, HIMYM, M&M and POI were all in the top-10 of all 3 lists. Go CBS!

  • Kari

LOL You have to love the enthusiasm of the H50 fanatics. The percentage increase of a weak result is still a bad result. A 2.2 demo puts the show in a bad place among n the rest of CBS shows.
CBS has some good shows getting good numbers in network and in syndication. H50 is not one of those. Doing badly on TNT too.

  • Linda E.

Good for HF-0!!! This seasons’ numbers practically guarantee renewal. Yay !!

  • Networkman

I’m really happy with Almost Human. It shows many were DVR’ing the show during the Holiday season. Now FOX has to determine how they can get these people to watch it live. This show should be able to break 2.0 regularly.

  • Sashay

I wouldn’t say H50 is doing “great” but I think CBS is far more worried about its Sunday dramas. If Intelligence does super well, I think I might be nervous about H50, because they’ll renew Elementary over H50 and if they really are doing away with Sunday original episodics, then Elementary might need a Friday spot even if the Mentalist and the Good Wife both get the ax.

  • taylor

1.65 million viewers for carrie diaries?

  • eelna

No! 1.165 Million Viewers = 1.17 Million Viewers. One question, how do other CW shows do in viewers with Live+7 DVR Ratings? A site says, Reign gets 1.8 Million Viewers and 0.8, but that can’t be true, as it averages 1.8 Million Viewers and a 0.7.

  • Jlopie1

Congrats to Almost Human, H50, Blue Bloods and POI. Good showings on the Live + 7 ratings for this week. People do watch these shows, just, maybe not during Christmas week! Looking forward to the second half of the season!

  • starhop

Go Almost Human! It’s back tonight with a new ep, hope lots of people watch!

  • Samantha

I’m in that coveted 18-49 demo and I love H50! But I think the networks are going to have to start to accept this little thing called the “greying of America” and realize that ratings in the 1.5 – 2.0 range for the 18-49 group will be the new norm for many of their shows. Obviously, shows like H50, Blue Bloods, Person of Interest, Elementary, etc. are skewing older each year but they also draw 10+ million viewers each week — twice as many as the younger skewing shows and 3x – 4x as many as cable programs! That’s a lot of viewers with a lot of discretionary income for networks/advertisers to either a) ignore or b) gamble on them sticking around for a new show when one of their favorites is cancelled.

For instance, I didn’t check out any new dramas this year and only one comedy (Michael J Fox show which I watched about 2 1/2 episodes). I was going to watch Intelligence until I read the interview the lead actor (forgot his name) did in TV Guide this week and he comes across as a total ass so count me out on that one too.

Ultimately, I think we’ll get a fifth (and probably final) season of H50.

  • Stupid Flanders

Woot Woot POI! Best network show!

  • Kate

Yay NCIS, it had 4 million viewers for the 7Day DVR tally the previous week, plus the demo number was 2.9, that’s terrible, no wonder their getting $160,000 per ad, where TBBT gets $360,000. It’s demo is usually in the upper 4′s to low 5′s.

  • Alice High

EVERYBODY PLEASE MAKE SURE TO WATCH BEAUTY AND THE BEAST!

  • FridayFan

Yay for H50! Always delighted to see good numbers. That means other people also enjoyed this delightful show. Good for us!

And Season 5 would be awesome!
