Craig Robinson

NBC has ordered pilot Mr. Robinson to series. The show will star Craig Robinson, best known for The Office as a musician who takes a job teaching middle school. The network has not announced when the show will premiere.  Variety has more details.

    NBC is just too desperate.

I’d watch this before I’d watch any of NBC’s other recent comedies.

  • Michelle

I like him, but suspect this will flop like every other comedy they’ve launched the last few years.

  • CrimTV

Lets face it, reruns of Friends, Seinfeld, Frasier and Will & Grace would knock their Thursday lineup right out of the park!

    Dead Show Scheduling…

  • Mega64

Hey, if it can stay above a 1.0, NBC will consider it a success!

  • CBSviewer

I’m surprised NBC did not order a Friends reboot yet !

This and Tooken (staring Ellie Kemper) look like they might be a “The Office stars” comedy block.

I don’t know if it will get ratings, but I’m definitely excited . Glad NBC is kind of going away from the family comedies of this seasons Thursdays and going for those The Office /Parks/Community /30 rock vide shows. I know they don’t rate well, but they’re great TV shows. Maybe they’ll rate closer to The Office.

I’m shocked this wasn’t picked up before, because This is the End was pretty popular and could have been a The Office/40 year old Virgin ratings boost, or that’s how I though NBC would desperately look at it like.

Thrusday needs to be only drama night.
Comedies should go to either Tuesday or Sunday, that’s the only way they can nurture them to be solid shows (let’s forget about hits they need something that doesn’t fall below 1.5)

I look forward to it and will try it out. He’s a funny guy. I still like comedy Thursdays (too many on Tuesdays for me; please don’t schedule it there, NBC) but of what’s left I only watch Parks & Community now. I save SSTW for streaming when everything else has been watched already.

I hope NBC picks up “Losing It” from Shane Dawson. Given how many comedies it usual brings to series is say it’s likely, but I doubt it’ll be a hit if it makes it. I doubt any new NBC comedies will be hits.

If any of you have seen Peeples, This is the exact plot of that movie. Not the film I would think to base a show on.

  • k:Alex

I hope it isn’t a Mockumentary, but with so much comedies already, NBC should at least keep 2 hours of comedy.

  • Matt M.

If NBC replaced their entire 8:00-11:00 Thursday Night lineup with reruns of FRIENDS, Seinfeld, Frasier, Will & Grace, Mad About You, and Wings, I GUARANTEE you it would be doing DOUBLE ratings to what it is doing now. Guarantee.

The premise of this pilot sounds so… Bad.

  • René

    Another Flop, thanks NBC.

  • Shepherd

Who? I always thought Mrs. Robinson was a woman. Forget DOA, this show died before they finished writing the first episode.

  • Nick.

Only six? Looks like this will premiere late in midseason then. Excited for this but definitely not as much as Token.

  • Bram

    @Nick Fox has Mulaney.

  • Networkman

This sounds like a family comedy, with the lead character as a school teacher with children. I’m not sure if this is a multi-cam or single-cam. But this is a show that could be paired with About a Boy.
