    About bloody time, having no black women was like having missing teeth in that cast

  • Justin

    The show now has 7 female cast members (Vanessa, Cecily, Kate, Aidy, Nasim, Noel, Her) and rarely uses 3 of them as it is (Aidy, Nasim, Noel) so I wish her the best of luck.

    Hmm…I guess she’s “ready”

  • Ralph Hahn

    In Season 1 of SNL (1975-76) “The Not Ready For Prime Time Players” had just Dan Ackroyd, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Garrett Morris, Jane Curtin, Laraine Newman and Gilda Radner and a few featured players who were not billed. (I think I missed one. Bill Murray joined in Seasons 2 after Chevy’s movie career began NOT to take off. That first season was one of the best.

    Now, the Prime-Time & Featured Players number about 20.

    She was decent in the Reality TV show “Would You Fall For That?” on ABC… it’s just the pranks that sucked.

    Can’t wait to see what she can do with actual comedy instead of sociology in disguise.

    @Justin: Cecily has the anchor chair of Weekend Update. After Seth leaves, you might be getting sick of seeing so much of her. As for Kate McKinnon, she’s proving to be more versatile than the other ladies in celebrity impersonations (Ellen, Martha Stewart, Jane Lynch).

    But I do agree that some I can live without. While I like Vanessa Bayer and Taran Killam in the J-Pop American Fun Time Now, when she does Jacob the Bar Mitzvah Boy on any SNL episode, that’s the point where I call it a night. (Thankfully not a frequent character.) Except for the “mousey” parts, Noel is entirely forgettable, and Nasim flat out surpasses her at that anyway.

    Getting on the show guarantees nothing. The performers have to write and then manage to get their material on the air. If she can do that, then success will follow. The internal politics at SNL are a fascinating study.

    Anyone have a listing of the hosts for the remaining season of SNL?

  • Jagger Dagger

    Now that this is taken care of, Lorne Michaels need to address the real problem SNL is having: the writing. I can’t count the number of times that they had an excellent guest host on only to give them weak material to perform that week. What a waste.

    @Marius Telemacher

    I’m just saying that the SNL Writers don’t use the entire female cast that much.

    And I don’t hate any of the female cast members.
