All the shows are great right now. I am loving BOLD and DAYS and DVR them both and used to save them but now watch the same day because I cannot wait. Look out Feb sweeps. I suspect we will see some new winners, either BOLD or GH or both will share the #1 spot with Y&R.

On another note: they count the ratings 18-54 now. BIG DIFFERENCE!

gh already below 3 million no wonder there was no abc press release then people get mad and act like abc is the bad guy when other networks had cancelled soaps in their history to

  • lll

Wow. It’s amazing how “cancellation” has reinvented daytime soaps. It’s unfortunate that AMC, OLTL, ATWT and GL had to bite the dust to give the soaps a chance to kick the remaining ones in high gear.

I agree. GH is gunning for Y&R’s #1 spot. They already tasted #1 in 18-49 success.

  • Kia

@jupiter. The below 3M includes the preempted Friday bringing down the average for the week. Days also. I agree that y and r has some stiff competition this year from its sister soap and GH. Both shows feel unstoppable. Has anyone been enjoying The bold and the beautiful like I have lately? The new Ridge is great!

  • Bexx

It’s about time! Congrats to BB, the only soap CBS can count on right now.

Wow GH dropped. This has really been good…Hope its due to the Holidays…

  • Derrick

    Congrats to CBS!

  • Rob R

The ratings for GH on Friday Dec 20 were affected by a Presidential press conference that aired from 2:15 to 3:00 pm Eastern that day, forcing GH to air a rerun across all time zones and from 2:00 to 2:15 in the East and Central. The same press conference pre-empted the last 45 minutes of DAYS in the Central time zone (Chicago, Dallas, Houston, St Louis, Minneapolis, and other large cities). So their weekly averages were unfairly harmed by the Friday numbers.

  • Kia

    At Rob. Well said!????

  • JayTN

The numbers for GH and “Days” would have been down even if ABC and NBC opted not to count Friday (Dec. 20) in the weekly averages – which they should have done.

GH’s numbers minus Friday would have been 2,945,250 and the numbers for “Days” minus Friday would have been 2,509,000. Both soaps would have been down from their previous week’s numbers…not down by as much, but still down. So, saying that the only reason either soap is down is because of Friday is a little misleading.

  • Jay

Good numbers for all 4 soaps. In the state of NEW MEXICO (General Hospital) was preempted on Friday Dec 6, 2014. I was so mad, that they didn’t show my soap that day. Obama special report. They should keep the so call special report in the evenings that is what the World National News is about. ABC u are neglecting GH. You don’t show promos in daytime and nighttime come on ABC. If you keep interrupting GH. There is gonna be no more GH.

  • Jay

sorry it is Friday Dec 2o,2014

  • Kia

I would like to hear Mikes take on the ratings. I always get a lot out of his posts. jay from TN also.

  • Kia

    Thank you JayTN

  • Mike

JayTN has said what I would have said as far as this weeks ratings.

Even though I don’t watch GH I can’t say that it wasn’t exciting to see some movement and variety in the demos for awhile. That is just from a person who follows the ratings.

But as a Y&R fan I am really glad to see it back at #1 in the demos again.

It will be interesting to see the ratings for the week of Christmas since we have already seen from the press releases that Days had a big week in 18-49 that week.

  • Mike

The Big Difference is not because they are now counting 18-54. They have always counted 18-54. In fact they count all the way up to 100 or older. We just never see those numbers.

There are multiple demos counted for daytime including the Males 18 and above, Teenage girls, Females 50 and over but we never see them. SON gets some of them but choose not to release them. The person who posts the ratings over there decides what he or she will release of the ones they get.

The Total Viewers count includes all ages — not just the ages that are listed in the report.

  • MBmomof3

Disappointing. I really enjoyed the soaps over the holiday. They’ve all been exceptionally good lately IMO. I rarely watch live and miss SOAPnet already. Thank goodness for DVR.

  • PatF

Glad to see YR back at #1 in all demos.
