It's Golden Globes night. While it's illogical, that awards voted on by fewer than 100 foreign journalists have become a major event, the telecast's freewheeling, unscripted format coupled with the fact that both film and television are honored, makes for what is usually a very entertaining show. Tonight, the awards Face Off against new episodes of The Good Wife, and The Mentalist on CBS, Revenge and Betrayal on ABC, FOX's animated lineup,  and a slew of high profile cable premieres including True Detective on HBO and Shameless and Episodes on Showtime. Last year's telecast, which was also hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, garnered a 6.4 adults 18-49 rating. How do you think the Globes will fare this year? Make your predictions!

    Tonight’s Predictions…

    NBC
    Golden Globes: 6.1 / 18.2 million viewers

    ABC
    Revenge: 1.6 / 5.9 million viewers
    Betrayal: 0.7 / 3.0 million viewers

    CBS
The Good Wife: 1.3 / 8.9 million viewers
    The Mentalist: 1.4 / 9.1 million viewers

  • Bob

ABC is so stupid to have new episodes tonight. You would think they would have learned after getting pummeled year after year by the Globes.

  • Bob

Oh you forgot about Downton Abbey which will probably do pretty well. 10 million last week. I am sure that the Globes would do even better if some of the shows were in repeat instead of being new.

with Downtown Abbey and The Good Wife all new, the show will take a small hit but it’ll do well. I say 17 million viewers. NBC will take that.

I’ll be watching Downton Abbey live and then switch over to the Globes. I may miss part of the first hour, though, if the football game is still on. I’ll also be recording The Simpsons, Family Guy, Revenge, True Detective and Episodes.

    Crazy night!

I think it will hit a 6.0 or slightly higher.

  • HalCapone

I’ll go against the grain and predict low to mid 5′s (5.5 after final adjustments).

  • HalCapone

Series low for The Good Wife, too (with higher than normal DVR playblack for a show that barely registers any DVR playback compared to other soaps)

  • Joseph

Supposedly, CBS is devoting the entire hour of “60 Minutes” tonight (January 12th) to the A-Roid scandal.

That, and the lead-out from the NFL playoff game could hurt the Globes during the 8-9 P.M. Eastern hour. “Downton Abbey” will impact the Globes from 9 to 10 Eastern time.

It’s my understanding that the Globes will air live on the West Coast, and that “60″ will be seen at 5 Pacific instead of the usual 7 Pacific; while “Downton” will be seen at 9 Pacific.

Thus, “Downton” won’t hurt the Globes in California, but “60″ will.

  • Joseph

I should also mention that my predicted 18-49 “Globes” rating is 5.7, since both “60 Minutes” and “Downton Abbey” will hurt the show somewhat.

  • Christian

Downton isn’t hurting the Golden Globes don’t be silly. Live shows and sports are DVR-proof, Downton and other dramas aren’t.

  • were123

    6.1 probably.
I expect Revenge to take a hit, but not too hard. 1.5/1.6 probably. It could be lower, I just don’t think it will go down as hard as 1.3 or something of the sort

  • THE OLD MAN

    I’m thinking 6.1-6.2

  • cc

Who are these people that are expected to watch the GG’s? It isn’t football, and it isn’t TBBT, just a bunch of pretentious celebrities. Ho hum.

  • Niallerz24

    Golden Globes: 6.0+
Revenge: 1.3 and 5.2 million viewers
The Good Wife: 1.2 and 8.4 million viewers.

Everyone who says Revenge won’t take a major hit and will remain around the 1.5/1.6 level, you are crazy. The show will take a major hit, just vlik eit did last year and DH did the year before.

  • Rebecca

6.0 or higher. I don’t want to miss a minute with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosting. Watching and recording it in segments to re-watch later. I can stream Downton Abbey tomorrow.
