Given that, through Sunday, the CW hadn't aired any new episodes of shows with a  future, please excuse the Cancellation Bear for rehashing a post from the Fall.

Given that the CW has 10 hours to program, and typically premieres 3 new hours of programming each Fall, and has 5 hours of veteran shows certain to be renewed, that leaves at most 2 open hours in their Fall schedule for Reign, The Tomorrow People, The 100 and Star Crossed. So the cancellation bear is counting on two of those four shows being canceled.

If America's Next Top Model takes up an hour of the Fall schedule, the CW would have to move a veteran show to a non-October premiere date or cancel a third of those four shows. That's certainly possible.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2014. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2014, the "old" Fall predictions will stay in the table.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

curious about the 100. not so much about star crossed. and i think that is how its going to play out.

i’m hoping for a ttp renewal, but unless it stands well in its new spot, i see reign/100 as renewals for next season.

  • Jeff (Canada)

Tomorrow People, The 100 and Star-Crossed will probably meet the chopping block. And this is coming from someone who watches Tomorrow People and plans on watching The 100.

  • Charmed

TTP and one or both Midseason shows cancelled.

  • Nick.

Star Crossed is pretty much DOA (bad timeslot, no lead-in, bad timing with the Olympics, only one repeat scheduled) so I don’t have much faith in it, much like the CW. Will check out the pilot though.

The 100 is a different story. It gets the post-Arrow slot while Tomorrow People is moved out. Get repeats of the first FOUR episodes, and while the premiere is pretty late, it’s certainly better than being thrown under the (Olympics) bus. Reviews for the pilot have been mixed but I’m hopeful this will be a hit.

  • Shepherd

I really don’t see much, if any chance that 3 of those 4 shows get cancelled. If this were a different network maybe, but I don’t think the CW’s head will swell that large this season that they would be willing to take such a huge gamble on next year’s crop of freshmen shows. For me it’s almost a certainty that only 2 of those 4 get canned.

    95% they cancel 2 shows
    3% they only cancel 1
    2% they cancel 3.

But really, I’d almost say there’s no chance they do anything but cancel 2 at this point. A couple of weeks of 2014 ratings should give more insight.

  • Malike

Reign is doing pretty well so thats likely to be renewed and i dont nderstand why they would cancel ttp when they keep calling it a hit new series idk if The 100 and star crossed does well mabey all of them will be renewed

  • Jeff (Canada)

    @Malike

EVERY new show for a network is a “new hit series”. It’s just something networks say.

  • TheTVGod

The Tomorrow People got very good, very quickly, so if you bailed after episode one you are missing a solid sci-fi show.

  • RESI

The CW is making more money on the tomorrow people worldwide (I think) it’s already on here in the UK and there’s not a trace of Reign so surely that goes in it’s favour? (I pray)

The 100 and Star Crossed obviously, nothing can be said about them as they are a month away or more. I’m sure as Beauty and the best and the carrie diaries are going bye bye there will be plenty of room. There’s 3 slots open (as Nikita ended) maybe give something a short season. I’m literally guessing.

  • TJ

@TheTVGod no, it did not. I’d say that it’s the most disappointing show this season for me, outside of AoS.

  • hey

TTP has actually gotten really good, so if two shows get cancelled I hope it’s Reign and Star Crossed, because The 100 seems interesting.

  • sinataslimy

i would love to see ttp go on and not to get cancelled

  • Eelna

You cant call two countries worldwide. Reign also airs in New Zealand and Australia, also Canada. Ttp only in Canada and the UK. Only because Robbie said, that it comes to Japan and india, i dont believe hhim. Because theres no proof to it. And in its first season BATB did better internationally than Arrow.

  • Ron

Reign will definitely be renewed,I wouldn’t be surprised if it returned to a series High next week.My money is on Reign and The 100 for renewals.

  • Dave

I predict REIGN(this seasons BATB) and The 100(this seasons TCD) to be renewed.

TTP is certain to be cancelled in my opinion. Worse CW remake since MELROSE PLACE.

  • jason50

I still think they will keep 2 shows out of the four. Right now it looks like Reign has a slightly better chance of renewal over the Tomorrow People. It would be interesting to see which shows CW would keep if the 2 mid season shows bring in the same numbers as Reign or TTP.

  • Brandy

@Resi Reign airs in Austrailia. While international sales do work for or against a show there’s many other factors:TTP went from 0.9 to 0.5 behind one of the biggest/best leadins and won’t Likley do any better on Mon.Reign does well online.Reign does well in A/W 18-34 while TTP dosent.TTPis exspensive cause of special effects of the “powers”.Reign had grown /risen in the couple weeks before thanksgiving in demo & total viewers while TTP has shown no growth.Reign has good word of mouth, while TTP dosent.TTP dosent have good retention out of its leadin while Reign has better retention out of its leadin(though not great).Reign and TO do very well in social media ,better than TTP (TO ,#2,Reign #8,TTP # 10 of the to 25 new shows on social media).TVLine reccently upgraded Reign to “a safe bet for renewal”while TTP is at “too early to tell”. Reign does pretty well on iTunes.
@Malike, they call almost show a “hit show”-EMMD which premiered to 0.5 last season then got 0.3-0.4 at first was called a hit show.HoD premiered to 0.8 three seasons ago and got mainly 0.5-0.6 and was called “a hit show”.
Now as to why they’d cancel TTP,:it’s declined most of the weeks it’s been on so far going from 0.9 to 0.5(low ratings) behind a very good lead in and has awful retention out of its leadin. Its 18-34 demo numbers aren’t good.It dosent do that great in social media, dosent have good word of mouth,it’s exspensive,CW hasn’t said it does well online the way they have with TO,VD,CD,Reign..TvLine reccently upgraded Reign to “asafetida bet for renewal” while TTP is “too early to tell”.TTP Likley won’t do well on Mon either.

  • Eelna

    HOD season high tieying withTTP.

  • queeneeuq

I pick Reign and Star-Crossed ths CW needs new soaps now that Beauty and Carrie are gone. Tommorow and 100 and Star just seemed too. Much the same for two of them to survive so Reign is 100% safe.
