Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

  • Becki

    When does PBS data become available?

  • Jacquelyn

    I really don’t understand why they put Revenge up against the football stuff. And with a horrible lead in. Is there a reason why Revenge didn’t go on hiatus at the same time as OUAT?

  • Ultima

    @Sara Bibel
    The 90 minute season 2 premiere of The Following

    It was only an hour long; FOX scheduled it for 90 minutes in an effort to help DVR viewers in case of the game running long (it didn’t, and they ended up starting The Following early… oops!).

  • JJF

    Those numbers for Revenge aren’t TOO bad considering the competition. Doubt ABC is seriously looking at that. If anything, mustering above 1.0 will still bode well for it. This is the new mark for success on ABC. It’s not how well you do but rather how well you do in relation to everything else on the network. They’ve only got 1 new drama “hit” this year and it’s a soft hit. Considering they’ll likely need to cut a comedy hour next year due to all the comedy flops, I imagine they aren’t going to be able to afford to cancel any veteran dramas.

  • Wade

    @Jacquelyn No idea. Stupid abc, always ruining my favorite show.

  • AlanHalliwell

    Good for the following but would like to see what would it get without big lead in. Revenge still the top performer of the night for abc by a lot

  • Steve A

    Great for the following! So amped for this season. Too bad for Revenge. I may adjust up. Last night was a good episode.

  • Matt M.

    Revenge will rise in its new, later timeslot of 10:00 when it returns on March 9. No more competition, from other dramas such as Walking Dead, The Good Wife, Boardwalk Empire, Downton Abbey, Game Of Thrones, Shameless, and so on.

  • Wade

    @AlanHalliwell, well if you put a mediocre rating with a trashy show and a show with dire ratings, of course revenge is gonna do well

  • Ultima

    @Jacquelyn
    I really don’t understand why they put Revenge up against the football stuff. And with a horrible lead in. Is there a reason why Revenge didn’t go on hiatus at the same time as OUAT?

    Because they didn’t have room to fit 22 episodes of Revenge without airing it in January.

  • danny94

    :( Revenge, series low.

  • Ray

    Why did ABC air a new Revenge against a huge event like that. I swear ABC does not think when they schedule. I just hope this doesn’t hurt Revenge when it returns in March at 10pm. Revenge had so much momentum built up.

  • bnovarro

    Considering Revenge had to go against 44.09 million viewers and a 15.4 it didn’t do as badly as I thought it would. I’m optimistic that when it returns it will be up to where it was a couple of weeks ago.

  • Shepherd

    Revenge matching Nashville’s numbers from last week. It had more viewers though! I still don’t understand why anyone thinks that Revenge is going to magically do better at 10pm, despite its ratings at 10 during S.1.

    Holy Following. Given the fact that the game was on FOX, it’s hard to take those numbers without a grain of salt, but things should still turn out very good for them.
