Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

lets not forget the following had a little football game before it. so these number are inflated. it will come down huge next week.

REVENGE was really good last night, especially the way they tied up some of the aftermath of the shooting and introduced new mysteries for March 9th when the show returns. But since the show managed to get a 1.8 last week, I think it will bounce back up then the rest of the season returns in Spring.

Verizon had The Following scheduled at 10:30PM. So if you were watching Sherlock and got to The Following today, you learned that you missed the opening portion. Also, FOX hasn’t got The Following up on Verizon’s On Demand yet. Hello, January 27 repeat. Our station ended The Following at 11:20PM Eastern – I suspect it was a 1 hour episode, not a 90 minute episode. The 10:30 to Midnight listing was probably to cover them in case the football game ran late.

Sherlock also began at 9:58PM (TV listings were 10PM). A very DVR-unfriendly night.

    @Matthew K
    The following 4.4!!!!

The Following aired from 10:20-11:20pm ET/7:20-8:20pm PT. The preliminary ratings are meaningless until FOX puts out a press relaese with the time-zone adjusted numbers.

Revenge did not do much better last year VS the same competition so not too bad. Everybody was watching the game. Last year it fell harder than it did during the Golden Globes and this year the same thing happened, hopefully it can adjust up to a 1.4.

  • Shepherd

    Series low for Revenge?

  • diana

i’m not surprised revenge was against a big game last night which got over 41 million viewers considering that revenge had a 0.9 and has fallen that low before its doing pretty decent last year when hit was getting like a 2.5 or above it fell to a 1.7 when it went up against the big game. i hope that abc doesn’t use these ratings against its renewal chances

  • Ultima

Why did ABC air a new Revenge against a huge event like that. I swear ABC does not think when they schedule.

Why do people continue to complain about this? I swear none of you has ever looked at how hard it is to fit 22 episodes of a Sunday show onto the schedule.

  • Jazz

Betrayal was not good. I held out till the end. Expected more or better but they sorta gave up. Did wrap everything up, though. Whoever was behind this knew Chicago though and that was really nice to see. Had it been a stronger show, I think we would have seen some great performances out of the Drew (attorney husband that was cheated on) and some great Chicago locations. Oh well. The show remained a low note throughout it’s season but showed some potential sometimes.

  • ragincajun

That is some respectable numbers for the CM repeat in a filler timeslot. I wonder if CBS was doing a little experimenting last night??!

  • Ray

Revenge never had a 0.9. A 1.3 is its series low, but hey it looks a lot better than Nashville which had the same rating with little competition and a better lead in.

  • Sarah

    @Sara Bibel

Will Friday’s ‘final ratings’ be out tomorrow because of MLK Day?

  • John A

Miserable ratings for Revenge. I didnt know The Following was back. Ill watch it during the week.

  • DenverDean

For those who didn’t read the blurb, TF’s numbers ARE timezone adjusted, but because it started at 10:20, I expect a drop. (The half-hour drop is HUGE. Does not bod well.)

  • rob60990

How nice of Marc Berman to post BS ratings this morning stating Revenge pulled a 1.4 HH rating. I should have known that was wrong. Revenge didn’t do too horrible considering the circumstances however it was a dull episode except for Madeleine Stowe’s fantastic performance and crazy Daniel.

  • Ultima

I wonder if CBS was doing a little experimenting last night?

No experiment, they know exactly what they’re doing. None of their programming was regularly scheduled (it was “60 Minutes Presents”), so none of it will count in the season averages for those shows.

  • Shepherd

But since the show managed to get a 1.8 last week, I think it will bounce back up then the rest of the season returns in Spring.

Revenge did not get a 1.8 last week. Where do you people get this stuff?

  • CSI Fan

I’m sorry because you’re usually right, but this time I think you’re wrong.
I remember (not exactly when) in November/December that OUAT had and original and a movie to 9pm-11pm, so instead of showing this movie they could easily put an episode of Revenge and in January only had 2 episodes (the winter break). IMHO.

  • Cory

Stupid Fox. I was planning on setting the DVR to record late anyway in case of football overrun, but left it be when I saw even Fox had 90 minutes scheduled. Then they go and start 10 minutes early. Idiots.

And before anyone attacks, I know they’re not really idiots and I’m just venting. I know that if they waited to start it at 1030 like the guide says, thats more viewers that tune out during the postgame before the show starts for people who may have been curious. Oh well.

  • frodo

I agree with you but isn’t Grey’s and Once 22 episodes as well, how come they are not back during January facing this competition. But I agree that it is hard to schedule, anyway I am just glad Revenge faced all of this competition and still managed to get the same rating as at least Nashville. Hopefully when it comes back in March it will go up to a 1.7 or 1.8 as it did when it first came back in January. Still very much safe.
