    Go Criminal Mimes!

    This article does not make sense. Here it says that criminal minds has risen from 10.36m to 13.25m but then on Wednesday final figures article it says this week eposide it only has 10.35m viewers. So when did criminal minds get 13.25m viewers this season as the most viewers it has had this season is 11.36m viewers when you look at the weekly ratings chart?

    @Skylar,

    This press release is about Live+3 ratings. The ratings reported in the regular daily posts are Live+Same Day ratings.

    The 10.36 million was Live+SD (all those that watched live or by 3 am the next morning).

    The 13.25 million includes that 10.36 and everyone who watched by DVR in the first 3 days after broadcast.

    @ holly so what are the actual figures that are considered the final reading because in previous season s criminal minds was getting about 14m a night like season 6 and now they are getting 10m . When Wikipedia does an overview on the ratings shows receive each season what figures are they using ? on the night final ratings or the first 3 day broadcast?

  • Holly

    Skylar,

    There are generally 4 sets of numbers.

    Live+SD are those who watch live or by 3 am the next morning by DVR. These are the numbers we see daily.

    Live+3 are those who watch live or within the first 3 days by DVR. We usually only see these by press release.

    Live+7 are those who watch live or within the first 7 days by DVR. These are in a weekly post about 2 weeks after the original airing.

    C3 are those who watch the commercials live or within the first 3 days. We rarely see these, but this is the number that actually matters.

    They’re all “actual” figures, but they’re measuring slightly different things. Most people refer to the Live+SD since they are the most widely available. Network press releases will usually say what they’re using (like this one about Live+3). When talking about season averages network press releases will use Live+7 because it looks better to have a higher number.

    Ad prices (the reason for the Nielsen ratings) are set using the C3 numbers. That means the advertisers aren’t paying for people who FF through commercials.

    I’d imaging which numbers go on wikipedia varies by show, but it should say somewhere in the article.
