NEW YORK – Jan. 24, 2014 – Nickelodeon’s hit live-action series Sam & Cat continued its ratings momentum with the Saturday (1/18/14) hour-long premiere of “#TheKillerTunaJump: #Freddie #Jade #Robbie”, drawing 4.8 million total viewers and ranking as Nick’s highest-rated telecast with Kids 6-11 (10.5/2.1M) since 2012. The special episode--which reunited some of the stars from recent Nick live-action hits iCarly and Victorious--posted double and triple-digit gains and averaged a 8.0/2.6M (+92%) with Kids 2-11, 10.5/2.1M (+109%) K6-11 and 8.8/1.8M (+97%) Tweens 9-14. The telecast also posted increases with total viewers, up +93% over last year.

Sam & Cat has kicked off 2014 on a high note.  In the first two weeks of the year, the series scored back to back wins as the number-one entertainment program with Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11.

Ariana Grande’s popularity is starting to drive this show’s ratings now. She’s WAY bigger than Victoria Justice or Miranda Cosgrove ever were.

  • NickMe

    Yeahh Sam & Cat

  • Every

OMG So Huge! Go Nickelodeon and Sam & Cat

  • hannah

    Well deserved!

  • I luv nickelodeon

@Ryan the only reason why she’s more famous then victoria is through all the lies and effect she left for victoria. She hurt her career and her fans don’t like her anymore but everything will change when victoria goes big this year (new show, new movie, and new music). Miranda and Victoria will forever be known as the two queens of nickelodeon. Their shows were huge and bigger then what sam and cat will ever be. I honestly could care less about this show. Its not good to me but hey thats jusy my opinion.

  • Samuel

Nick got really lucky with Ariana. If she hadn’t exploded in popularity, this show would be tanking. Unfortunately, she’s the worst part of this show. At least she can sing!

Great special. And great ratings. I’m interested to see how the episode that aired last night did. The show has actually gotten better and is very funny.

Like others have said Nick got lucky with Ariana Grande because her popularity is skyrocketing and I feel she will only become more famous this year when she releases her second album. I’m shocked that wants to be tied down to a kids network but she seems like she loves playing Cat and I’m not complaining because I love watching her play Cat.

And nothing against Victoria or Miranda. Especially Miranda since iCarly reached ratings highs of over 10 million viewers and she was the highest paid child actor on tv at the time. But neither of them have reached the mainstream success that Ariana has already. Usually Disney stars get more mainstream success than nick stars but Ariana seems to have bucked the trend and has already hit the ranks such as Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez. Next Miley Cyrus. I’d love to know how much Ariana is getting paid for this show because if she gets more famous I’m sure she could get nick to fork out big bucks.

On other news let’s get a Victorious Reunion nick!!!

  • Ytr

Araina Grande speaks so annnoying on the show :/, I can’t listen to it

  • mathew

YAY! freddie should be on there permanently. Sam is the best part of the show!

  • Dan

This show is silly but funny. I only really watch it for Cat she’s definitely the best part. With the star power of Ariana i can see this show lasting a while.

  • Lyl

It won’t last long. The show blows

  • mathew

its way funnier than victorious ever was.

  • frenchfrie

What are you all talking about? Ariana didn’t bring the increased ratings in for this.I’m fairly certain the three guest stars from the previous shows and the mass amount of ship teasing in all the commercials did the trick for it.

Now, can the show keep it up or will it drop down again?

  • Lyl

    It’ll drop again

  • Born to shine

@ I luv nickelodeon I agree with you, Icarly & victorious is way bigger than Sam & Cat. I enjoyed that special, but Icarly and victorious will forever be funnier than Sam & cat. I like sam and cat, but the previous two shows are better.

  • Nathan

Ariana has nothing to do with Sam & Cat’s ratings, if she did, the show would have been a hit pulling in good ratings from the start, and the show is *just now* starting pick up steam.

  • Nathan

Anyway, great special and much deserved. Interested in seeing Cloud 9′s ratings, surprised Disney hasn’t released any news on its ratings.

  • Twist Of Fate

Wow, Sam and Cat has really picked it up this year. First time a non-SBSP Nick show eclisped 4 million. Great special and hopefully the success continues. Wonder how Cloud 9 did. I have a feeling it underperformed if DC didn’t release a PR.

  • Lyl

Meh I Like Disney but had no interest in cloud 9. If johnny tsunami was never a big hit why would cloud 9 be? Lol that’s how I feel about it. So I’m not butt hurt over cloud 9.
