Nice job on whoever cast Wendi McLendon-Covey as the mom on the Goldbergs.
She may be my favorite character on the show now.

  • The Nightman Cometh

    Finally, someone agrees!

My personal favorite is Jeff Garlin as the Dad. He always seems to lift up the show even when it’s not always at its best. My 2nd favorite is the young boy who has the show narrated as an adult ala Christmas Story & Wonder Years.

The Goldbergs cast is amazing. Not one weak link in the chain.

I thoroughly enjoy this new show. And I agree they did a great job in casting. Every character brings something unique to the show. And they blend so well together. (Not like some of the other new sitcoms this year). I raised my two sons in the 80’s so it is especially nostalgic to me. I love reliving the 80’s every week.

The Goldbergs is easily the most improved of this years crop of new sit coms.

From a D+ at the premier to a solid B to B+ now depending on the episode.

Wendi is genius, George is just such a seasoned character actor he makes it look easy, and Jeff….is Jeff. He’s got that amazing ability to be in on the joke even as he’s playing an angry jerk that lets you still just *like* him.

All three kids have come a long way. The youngest was clearly really inexperienced at the start, but he no longer looks like he’s trying hard to remember lines. The chemistry and timing he’s developing with Wendi is one of the strongest parts of the show.

The other two kids are really “finding” their characters along with the writers – but this is why sitcoms always take time to develop. You have to try to find what works. And lately, it works.

It’s just unfortunate that Episode 12 couldn’t have somehow magically been the premier. Critics would have very different opinions of the show if they could see it for the first time today.
