Hello Ladies

HBO has canceled comedies Family Tree and Hello Ladies after one season, Deadline reports. Hello Ladies will have a final special  episode to wrap up its storylines. Another HBO comedy, Getting On, willreportedly be renewed once the network and the show's producers agree on a budget.

:( no… Hope Getting on is renewed!

  • Bradley

Getting On is brilliant. I hope if they renew it that they market it better!

That’s a bummer, I really like Family Tree a lot. I suppose it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, though. Too bad.

While I’m sure Family Tree and Hello Ladies were good shows – they were on HBO after all, Getting On is clearly the best option of the 3. It’s made the biggest social media splash and has had the best reviews, something which HBO takes intro consideration a lot more than the broadcast networks. That’s why a show like Looking, which premiered on Sunday, despite having low ratings, is certainly not out of the running of getting a renewal yet as according to Deadline HBO have been quietly encouraged by that show’s social media presence.

I only saw a bit of Family Tree once. It was awful but most shows are that on HBO these days.

  • Kelly

Hello Ladies was an awful show in my opinion. I’m glad for the cancelation. Hope Getting On gets renewed.

Family Tree needed to be cancelled. I saw the first episode and part of the second and it was horrible! I guess Hello Ladies needed to be cancelled as well, I’ve never even heard of it!

and the great chainsaw massacre of HBO tv shows from 2013-2014 continues. is there anything left on that network besides GoT, The Leftovers and the new serial killer one?

  • Jillian

Family Tree was terrible. I couldn’t believe Christopher Guest was behind it.

@DSC There is one more season of Boardwalk.

  • tom

I only wonder why couldn’t Enlightened get a special wrap-up episode?:( Or maybe an hour long episode… but that’s just only wishful thinking.

right. and one more of The Newsroom, but, as a result of that they are both out the door, with Hello Ladies and getting on, and treme, and true blood. all gone in the space of a year. hence the carnage. Treme was gone this past December. by December this year all these will be gone.

I meant Family Tree up there, not Getting on.

Too bad Family Tree didn’t work out. I haven’t seen it because I don’t get HBO, but I really liked Chris O’Dowd on The IT Crowd. Guess it wasn’t nearly as good.

  • Josh

Hello Ladies was so terrible I couldn’t make it through the half hour premier. It did accomplish a emotional response though. Raged anger and wanting to bring a very violent gruesome end to the main character because I hated him that much from the 10 to 15 minutes I did make before turning the show off.

The glory days of HBO were back when they had The Sopranos, Sex and the City, The Wire, Six Feet Under, Carnivale, Entourage, and Deadwood. Those days will never be relived again.

A bit disapointed with Hello Ladies. Not as good as I was expecting.

I liked Family tree a little. Going to miss Monk.

Getting On was great. Not what I had expected and the three lead actresses were brilliant. Wouldn’t be surprised if some Emmy acting noms come their way. I don’t think HBO’s promos for the show before it aired showed how dark a comedy it was. Not sure what they are paying the actors, but the show itself doesn’t look like it would cost very much to produce.

Tried part of an episode of Family Tree. It was alright, but not something I’d watch on a regular basis. Enjoyed Getting On and glad that it’s going to get a second season so that more people can catch on to the show.

  • Dan

Family Tree was Ok, it wasn’t great but it had its moments.

Surprised at Hello Ladies but at least it’s getting a special. Never saw it though.

HBO really seems to be revamping this year, cutting loose a lot of veterans and dumping a few new series when in the past they would get maybe one more season.

HBO still cleaning house… Hello ladies was decent. Not that funny though.
