I meant rooting against a show you haven’t even watched is weird.

Great for TVD. Ha ha Reign adjusted down. I thought it was going to do great when it came back from the break?

  • tedtalks

Another thing not in Reign’s favor its below both BatB and TSC

Secret Circle first episode back from holiday hiatus was 2.05m and .08 in demo

  • Ultima

It’s amazing how well CBS repeats. Of course their shows are so generic, the simple CBS viewer probably can’t tell if they’re watching a rerun or not.

So what’s your explanation for how well The Big Bang Theory does in syndication?

  • Dan

So a repeat of TBBT was only 0.4 behind in the demo from Wednesdays brand new Modern Family.

  • Bluebells

    @John A
Childish much? Could you be any more of a VD fan? (rolls eyes). Also, i thought the competition was between Reign and TTP fans?

  • Bluebells

Remember, TSC was behind a higher rated Vampire Diaries.

So, does that adjustment make American Idol ratings only 32% lower than last year’s? Woo-hoo. I suppose it could have been worse had they not reworked the show and left the judges the same. Weren’t last Fall’s ratings also down significantly from the previous Fall’s (25% or so)? If this rate of decline continues, next Fall American Idol should be hovering around 2.4-2.6 range in the demo. And don’t get me started on ABC’s future “Rising Star”–arrgghhh, just kill me now.

Not a fan here of Big Bang but its ratings continue to amaze me in both first run and repeat episodes. While it’s neither groundbreaking or particularly original or creative, I guess it might represent familiar comfort food to many regular viewers, not unlike CBS cop procedural shows.

I noticed the Shark Tank repeat was increased up by one tenth, too.

American Idol doesn’t air in the fall; what are you talking about?

  • Bluebells

The end justifies the means. Lets all see what happens come May. Its really too early to tell what gets renewed and what gets cancelled. You never know.

  • John A

Were blaiming TVD as a lead in? Lmao tell us what is a better lead in? Hart of Dixie, TTP or TCD?

  • Bluebells

Reign fans i have a theory, maybe Clarissa the bag head ghost scared a tenth of the viewers so they couldn’t finish watching the episode.

Sean Saves The World is hilarious! Love that Max develops a rivalry with everyone he meets. Max vs. hotel he lives in …..priceless….reminds me of Seinfeld vs. Newman.

@TedTalk, SC premired to a 1.3 dropped to 0.9 by episode nine and by the end of the season it was at 0.5.Reign has gone from 0.8, to two 0.7 s & the rest 0.6s it’s much more steady. Its declined less than anything in the timeslot in years and is doing a little better than BatB was in the timeslot. Also, gun smoke Rule.SC was on was three seasons when tv ratings and the CW ratings were much higher.Reigns much more steady than SC was.VD also was much higher then, averaging 1.6 in episode eight or nine.Plus, right now Reign is the fifth highest rated show and fourth most streamed show.SC was cancelled not just cause of being exspensive and low ratings/retention but also cause it didn’t do well online or internationally, both of which Reign does well in.Currently Reign is doing better than TTP(which has gone from 0.9 to 0.5 whith a good leadin& yes 0.7-0.6 is better than 0.5 and at least Reign rose twice to 0.7),CD,BatB,HoD,Nikita.CW also seems to support Reign.Reign also well in DVr,social media(better than TTP).

  • tedtalks

@Bluebells that is true that TVD was stronger, but the TSC was canceled even though on TVBTN final index had at .99, Reign is much lower than that in that index because they are in better shape now. People may not remember but TSC was always .7 or higher until the 18th episode

I think CW loves Reign so they may overlook it underperforming at .89 network average according to last index

    @ –

Nikita got a 2nd season after being launched after TVD. So far, there’s only been 1 show that’s aired after TVD that was cancelled in it’s first season (Secret Circle). Nikita and BATB were given 2nd seasons, and SPN is obviously still alive and well. It’s true that it seems that no new show seems to be able to hold on to TVD’s audience in the 9PM slot, but it’s simply not true that every show that’s been put there has been cancelled after 1 season – in fact, that’s only happened to one show so far.

I’m also confused why people are so surprised that TVD and TO are so close in terms of the numbers. The crossover audience there is bound to be huge. TVD has the edge, as it’s the parent show with the built-in fanbase (I’m pretty sure TO has only ever beaten it once, and that was the week TVD aired on Halloween and hit a new series low), but TVD is also the aging show, while TO is still new and fresh. It doesn’t surprise me at all that the numbers are so close, and it’s a great thing for both shows.

As far as TVD goes, I know some people were expecting it to hit higher because of the 100th, but regardless, it was still number 1 on CW, most watched on CW (I know this doesn’t matter, but I don’t think this has happened in a long time. Arrow has always beaten TVD in total viewers since it started), 3rd in it’s timeslot (always a major achievement for the CW) and up from it’s previous episode after a long hiatus. I’m sure the CW are thrilled with that, as I’m certain everyone else would have been if it was episode number 99 or 101 instead. In terms of the 100th, while I totally get why people would have wanted/expected higher numbers, I actually don’t see many people who would have tuned in specifically for the 100th who wouldn’t have been watching anyway. TVD’s not the kind of show you can just jump into at any random episode, and I don’t think it’s the kind of show that would have pulled in that many people who’ve never seen an episode before, simply because it was the 100th. The majority of the viewers of the 100th would be the core viewers who watch every week anyway, and I think that’s reflected in the ratings. Don’t get me wrong, I would have liked to have seen it higher, but the fact that it’s up on it’s previous episode after a long hiatus, up in total viewers and 3rd in it’s timeslot is good enough for me :)

I’m rooting for 100 and Star Crossed to do poorly too. It’s nothing personal.

  • Shepherd

But I wouldn’t worry about that right now. It’s still going to get renewed unless both Starcrossed and The 100 are break out hits.

It’s funny how some people don’t seem to understand this. I would even argue, that depending on how it finishes out the season, it could still have a chance at renewal even if SC and T100 are both breakout hits. While I doubt that the CW will renew 3 of the 4, I’m pretty certain they’ll renew at least two of the four.

And for the record, its 2014 average could fall 50% from 2013’s and it would still end up with a better average than TCD.

  • Bluebells

Like i said before, Reign is not growing.

  • Bluebells

If Reign keeps performing like this, that love will finish.
