BATB’s fanbase tries to make up for its small size with zealousness, which is not enough. Rabid though they may be, they are few in number. And as somebody pointed out with some stats earlier in the comments, both BATB and SC had a history of shedding viewers, starting high and just going lower and lower. Reign has not done this, and I think that is something CW will take into serious consideration when they are looking to pass out the renewals.

Of course, everything depends on what Starcrossed and the 100 do in February, but yes, I think the ability to keep a loyal and steady audience will make a difference.

Some people in the US watch leaked versions of Reign because it premiers a day early in Canada. Could this be affecting Reign’s ratings?

I agree it’s a better to have 4 hit (by CW standards) shows. A few years ago in May, my SPN was the 2nd highest rated show on the network with a .7. I didn’t fear for my show as much as I feared for the network. So yay for VD (which I’ve never watched); Arrow (which I watched last year but gave up on when they killed the only character I actually liked – and it’s opposite Revolution); Originals (which I love); and my still-loved SPN. My show doesn’t have to be #1. It just has to come back next year. And I’m pretty sure SPN and The Originals will be back.

I know on another thread someone posted, I believe, the 18-34 demo numbers. According to that, Reign is actually higher than Arrow, which surprised me(.09 vs .06) I knew that TTP is, unfortunately for a lot of people, not meeting expectations, but the fact that it’s last in this demo-at .02-doesn’t bode well for it, it seems. So, if Reign averages out higher in the demo-at least so far over the season-wouldn’t that be a plus, at least at this point in the season?

I was just watching P & R on my dvr and noticed a message on the bottom of the screen telling viewers that the Michael J. Fox show would be shown on Channel 38 so that they can bring us the following medical special. It was an infomercial for one of our hospital networks in SE MI – Minds of Medicine: Innovating By Heart. WOW. That speaks volumes about our NBC affiliate’s faith in this show. Holy cow. It recorded the first minute. In the middle of prime time.

    I hate VD!

SPN and Originals will definitely be back. And you should definitely get back into Arrow, season 2 has really spiked up in quality. Felicity and Diggle are definitely the best characters, and their importance has been highlighted more. Tommy’s death also influences Oliver a lot, and there are other reveals that deepen the mythology, along with The Flash introduction, you should rethink your stance on it.

I agree, Tommy was definately the best character on Arrow. I stuck around for Felicity, but it just isn’t the same. I will continue to watch it until the end though.

The CW doesn’t care about audience. It cares about demos and Reign’s demos are already shaky.

Which is a good thing because only one of Dawn Ostroff’s mistakes was thinking having one show to carry the network would be enough, let alone a good idea. By increasing the number of viable shows on the network, however slowly, Mark Pedowitz demonstrates that the network itself is still viable. That buys him (and the CW) more time. It also means that the network’s fate is more secure than relying on that of one show, however currently strong.

People wonder what Reign does wrong???
how about making a fanfiction from real characters? l loooove costume dramas but there is only a certain amount of artistic freedom l can swallow… for someone who know a LOT about 16th century history, Reign has been a no-go from the very beginning.. and after Adelaide said nobody cares about history l decided i didnt want to be taken for an ignorant and decided to
The names of characters are just ridiculous… Lola, Kenna, Aylee, Greer in 16th century France?? LOL l don’t think so… how about Katherine, Margaret, lsabelle, Elizabeth… yeah those would have have been the names, nobles would use to names their daughters

The costumes are soooooooo wrong for the period it’s a blasphemy… and the supernatural aspect?? OH dear LORD!!! Reign would have probably done better if they used original characters.

And do people even realize Mary ends up marrying Francis in real life?? or is that going to be changed as well.. Although having an affair with Bash on the side would be truly sticking to character of Mary Queen of Scots

Yes Mary and Bash look good together but that’s not everything…

Also how can people compare TVD which is in its 5th season with TO? let’s see how Klaus and co. perform in 5 years ( that is if they even last that long ), or HOD which is in its 3rd season with Reign and TTP… again let’s see how well these shows do in 2 years…

ABC should have kept Reba’s show paired with Tim Allen and dropped Neighbors. Parenthood getting slightly strong ratings and quality wise as the season progress. NBC needs to pair it with another drama.

  • rgxx

well..at least Parenthood won the demo in their time-slot.
