TV Ratings Sunday: Grammy Awards Down From Last Year as 'The Simpsons', 'American Dad' & 'Family Guy' All Slide (Updated)

NOTE: Due to the nature of live  programming the ratings for NBC & CBS (Pro Bowl & Grammy Awards)  are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers.   

CBS was number one among adults 18-49 and with total viewers. 

On CBS, 60 Minutes garnered a 2.1, up from last week's 1.3 adults 18-49 rating.The Grammy Awards earned a 10.1 (from 8-11PM)  From 8PM- 11:45, The Grammy Awards earned a 9.9 Adults 18-49 rating, down from the 10.1 (adjusted down from a preliminary 10.3) last year's special earned. Your predictions were too pessimistic.

On NBC, The Pro Bowl notched a 3.2 adults 18-49 rating, down a tenth from the preliminary 3.3 last year's game earned (which later adjusted up to a 4.0 adults 18-49 rating).

On FOX, The Simpsons earned a 1.7, down half a ratings point from its last original's 2.2 adults 18-49 rating two weeks ago. Bob's Burgers notched a 1.5. also down half a ratings point from the 2.0 it earned two weeks ago. Family Guy earned a 2.0, down seven tenths from its last original's 2.7 adults 18-49 rating. American Dad earned a 1.5, down eight tenths from its last original's 2.3 adults 18-49 rating.

On ABC, the special The Bachelor: Sean and Catherine's Wedding notched a 1.6, up  from the 0.9 adults 18-49 rating last week's Bachelor special earned and up from the 1.0 Ashley and JP's Wedding special earned.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    The Grammys were boring. Whatever, I guess I’m not into Beyonce & Jay Z as the rest of the world. At least, Imagine Dragons ruled!

    Those FOX numbers show that big audiences on other channels obviously don’t affect ratings.

    Who won the Pro Bowl? Does anyone care?

    Pretty miserable for Castle, even for a repeat.

    For only having a few big names this year, the Grammys did very well.

    However, they were terribly boring. Maybe that just speaks for music itself this year. Not a bad year – just all-around boring.

    Beyonce was pretty good, though. P!nk brought it as usual. Everyone else was meh

    The choreography and athleticism of the Pink Grammys performance was off the charts, but the Metallica song blew the roof off the dump.
