New York, NY-- (January 28, 2014) -- Multimedia entertainment studio Electus, an operating business of IAC (Nasdaq: IACI) and 5x5 Media, today announced that “Bet on Your Baby” has been renewed by ABC for a second season.  The game show, hosted by Melissa Peterman (star of ABC Family’s hit show “Baby Daddy”), challenges parents to try to predict their child's next move in an effort to win money for their child's future education.  ABC has ordered eight  episodes for the new season.

“We are thrilled that ABC has decided to renew “Bet on Your Baby” for a second season,” said Electus CEO Chris Grant. “This show has continued to build momentum both in the U.S. and around the world, proof that Electus is achieving its mission to create engaging television.”

During its first season, “Bet on Your Baby” found success as part of the network’s spring weekend lineup. In its third season, Melissa Peterson’s “Baby Daddy” still stands as ABC Family’s #1 comedy of all time, and is currently airing all new episodes Wednesday nights at 8:30pm ET/PT on ABC Family.

“Bet On Your Baby” was created by 5x5 Media’s Craig Armstrong, Rick Ringbakk, Charles Wachter and Electus’ Ben Silverman and Jimmy Fox. The series is executive produced by Electus (Ben Silverman, Chris Grant, Jimmy Fox) and 5x5 Media (Craig Armstrong and Rick Ringbakk). What? Can’t believe it.

  • Oliver

Not a surprise as they were casting for contestants recently. I wonder if this is a stepping stone for ABC to start programming Saturdays again.

I wonder when the last time a primetime non-sports/news magazine show got renewed on Saturday?

    COPS on FOX in 2012

I forgot all about Cops. To be fair, I’m pretty sure most of the American public had too…

Second season? This show had a first season?

  • Ram510

Yay! This was a great family show on Saturday nights

I still won’t forget that this beat an original Smash in the timeslot at least once.

Isn’t this heavily funded by Walmart? That’d sure explain the renewal.

I am shocked right now. Even more so if ABC’s foolish enough to put this back on Saturdays over the summer.
