It's still early in 2014, but Reign fans should be encouraged that after one episode, the show's better rated than the first two 2014 episodes of The Tomorrow People.

Besides the shows predicted as certain renewals by the Cancellation Bear, the CW will renew at least one more show (and quite possibly two more). The cancellation bear will catch The Tomorrow People before it catches Reign.

Why doesn't the bear move his Reign prediction to "likely renewed" right now? He's waiting to see the results for Star Crossed and The 100. Those results might also cause a change in his prediction for The Tomorrow People.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2014. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2014, the "old" Fall predictions will stay in the table.

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. You can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

    I have serious doubts that keeping sub one demo scoring shows in prime spots, trying to premiere a new show on the graveyard of Friday night and moving the second highest rated show back there is the way to become a ‘major player’.

  • RS

    OK, not going to move SPN back to Friday. It went there to die and was reborn. It is the second or third highest rated show on the net (demo v. viewers). I would love to think it will stay on Tuesdays (I haven’t had a wonderful Tues. for a long time – TO, SPN, P of I – heaven). But I must be realistic; they know they’ve got a winner in SPN. Except for Nicki, it has elevated every show it’s been paired with. I don’t give total credit to SPN. Rather, I think SPN creates a pairing with a similar show that raises both. Greater than the sum of its parts. Thankfully, Beauty and the Male Model is dead. I don’t care about the CD, but I don’t think it needs an ending. It had several seasons of Sex and the City and several movie endings (which I watched). Don’t despair, H of D fans, the move to Friday is a good thing. They expect less from Fridays and if the fans follow the show (hint), it will get a full season if not more.

    2014/2015 schedule

    Monday

    8:00-The Flash(new series,should be a self starter)
    9:00-Supernatural:Tribes(new series,SPN has always done good a 9 so I believe this will too)

    Tuesday

    8:00-The Originals(its doing fine just where it is)
    9:00-Supernatural(;eave it here,don’t fix anything that’s not broken)

    Wednesday

    8:00-Arrow
    9:00-The 100(if it does good this season,which I think it will,leave it where it is)

    Thursday

    8:00-TVD
    9:00-Reign(who knows,if it keeps doing good this season and they leave it here, it might get a bigger audience)

    Friday

    8:00-The Carrie Diaries(13 episodes,Oct-Jan)/Whose Line?(Jan-May)
    9:00-Hart Of Dixie(22 episode final season)

    BATB, Star Crossed and TTP cancelled. ANTM entirely in summer.

  • Rebooted

    @ Kissan

    Even if the 100 does good, the CW will at LEAST have 2 new dramas in the fall, probably 3.

  • Blubells

    @Kissan
    I truly believe reign will do better in another time slot. The thursday 9pm timeslot is cursed.

  • Ashley

    @Kissan No way the CW would only premier one new show.

    @Charmed Thanks for letting us know about the petition for The Carrie Diaries. I’m signing too.

  • Larry

    In my suggested lineup for the CW next fall, I placed Supernatural to lead off Fridays followed by its spinoff. I did not make this suggestion because I dislike the show. It is actually my favorite series and it is a powerhouse of a show. I think the CW could do well on Fridays and possibly even win the night. Supernatural did well on Fridays when it was paired with Smallville and could do so again, especially if the spinoff series is just as amazing as the original.

  • Restless

    Wow Larry, that is some pie in the sky you’re dreaming of. Maybe you should visit the Friday ratings posts. There’s no way in hell Supernatural would win Friday nights, it’ll just drop back down below a one demo again. Even when paired with Smallville on Fridays it dipped below a one for 2/3s of it’s episodes. Even if it didn’t, Supernatural isn’t likely to jump half a demo point and suddenly have comparable ratings to the big four network shows by being shuffled back to the graveyard. It has worse ratings right now than Friday shows like Last Man Standing, Shark Tank, Grimm, Dateline, basically every show except maybe Fox failures will still rate higher.
    And there’s still the questionable idea of premiering a new show on Fridays.
    But hey, it’s your schedule.

    @Bluebells & Rebooted:
    Just pointing out that Kissan’s schedule does have two new shows: Flash & Supernatural Tribes on Mondays.

  • Restless

    Apologies, not Bluebells, meant Ashley’s comment.

  • Dave

    As a fan of SPN, I have to admit that I’m no so sure Tribes is a good idea.

    I’m obsessed with The Originals atm simply because I love the original vampires, hence me dumping Vampire Diaries all together now.

    I like ARROW and was pleasantly surprised by Barry Allen’s performance as The Flash so I’m waiting for tht as well.

    But as far as Tribes, there really isn’t much info nor purpose. I’d personally rather SPN last 12+ seasons. :) I guess it all depends on the reaction/reception of the fans and rating of that episode but I’m not sure if I care for it.

    Canceling The Tomorrow People will be even worse than when The CW corrupted managers canceled The Secret Circle.
    These managers need to be jailed along with bankers! Enough is enough!
    These are just criminals. This is not business anymore.

  • Charmed

    My Carrie Diaries petition now has more than 3,100 signatures! It’s not even been up 2 days!

  • Mara

    CW As already confirmed a second season for TTP :)

  • Charmed

    @Mara no, they haven’t

  • Larry

    The CW should focus on a certain types of genre series that will keep viewers coming back every night. They currently have 6 of the best series on television, (VD,TO,TTP,SPN,ARROW,&REIGN) but it seems many people have never even heard of them. I have asked people if they watch Supernatural and many have never heard of it, once they watch it, they are hooked. Also, the CW shows are not getting recognized like they should with Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. I really believe the CW needs to find just four more series to fill their lineup and then focus on promoting them to viewers.

  • AAA

    @Dave
    Same here. I hope they cast well, because inserting fresh character in SPN world wont mean automatic fandom love. After J2 SPN fans will be very picky. So far I am very skeptical.
    As for schedule, I am pretty sure SPN will move to Mondays next year. Fridays are bad, so are Mondays. Arrow, Originals and TVD are untouchable, they will sit comfortably in their old time slots, SPN will be kicked again to plug the black hole.
    I am waiting for The 100 to premier, could be something I like. I hope so.

  • Bluebells

    @Mara
    What are you smoking?

  • eelna

    I expect three more pilot orders within the next week, and some early renewal (Arrow, TVD, SPN, TO) this month, like they did last year.

  • Sed

    It would literally be funny that after all this TTP vs Reign that they both be renewed.

  • Bluebells

    I would actually prefer if they both got renewed rather than if they both get cancelled.
