    For one thing, while Gossip Girl’s ratings started high, they quickly dropped.

    For another, it doesn’t matter what you or I think of Gossip Girl’s quality because it found an audience, at least for a while. Reign has low ratings and is not critically acclaimed, either. Even many of its fans call it a guilty pleasure.

    None of this makes Reign look like a quality show, let alone one that is higher quality than any of the network’s current successful shows. So, complaining that it’s being treated poorly by the network (which has put it after its highest rated show and promotes it a lot) in favor of lower-quality, but higher-rating, shows, seems a bit silly.

    I think CW did a great job this year, yet people are still not planning to invest in the network new shows , i mean
    1- The Originals : a really great show but the ratings are only good because it is a spin off from tvd
    2- Reign : is just perfect and even though it is airing after TVD people are not even trying to sample it just because it is a new show on CW

    @thesnowleopard
    Like i said, its a matter of opinion, i for one in my opinion, believe that Reign and supernatural are the best/most quality shows on the cw. If ratings or the general public doesn’t agree with me, that’s fine.

  • Carl

    I don’t think the ratings for The Originals are good only because of TVD. Look how “good” the ratings for PLL’s spinoff are right now.

    I don’t like the spinoff title either. It just seems bizarre and pretentious.

    @DougF, the ratings prediction is mostly based on some of the mixed/negative reaction to this episode, and the ratings for the last episode by this writing duo. I hope I’m wrong.

    @Bluebells

    This week’s rating for SPN is more likely to be the result of the previous episode’s quality and the SOTU audience shift than the reception of this episode.

    @thesnowleaopard
    I never expected Reign to be a hit, especially after VD. Afterall, look at what happened to shows like TSC and Batb after VD as a lead in.So i don’t think being behind the highest rated show of a network is a guarantee for higher ratings.One could even make an argument that they are also not even compatible, one is a period drama and the other about vampires. I wouldn’t say its critical acclaim, because most CW shows aren’t very critically acclaimed anyway. Not like shows from other networks.

  • jessica

    how will the originals and pll rate when glee enter the mix?

    TLC cancels Escaping the Prophet, pulled from the schedule prior to tuesdays air date

    @Carl

    I don’t think your comparison really works.TVD and TO are both supernatural shows revolving around vampires and witches.And TO’s main cast is directly taken from TVD where they were the main focus for 2-3 seasons.

    PLL and Ravenswood on the other hand have next to nothing in common.Taking into account all that is pretty obvious why “Originals” managed to capitalize on TVD’s success and Ravenswood failed to capitalize on PLL’s.

    @Bluebells – completely agree last weeks SPN was the best this season — or last season for that matter. But usually if there is a great ep, the next one benefits from the increased interest, so that also helped this weeks crappy ep.

  • Tom2

    Refugees from TSOTU speech clearly pushed up SPN’s ratings. The episode was subpar. Last week was a much better episode. As a fan since the pilot, I’m thrilled by its success. It been tossed to Friday to die, been on every M-Th night except Wed. and was the 9P.M. follow to new series Arrow, the Originals, and the Vampire Diaries. To the degree that CW has had success it mostly been associated with Supernatural in programming and genre. CW owes Ackles and Padalecki big time.

    @Bluebells

    There is quality (which is subjective) and there is fact (which is not). The fact is that Reign is not generally considered a quality show by critics and is, at best, on the bubble for a second season. Even if it does make it to a second season, its ratings are already so mediocre that it will be *extremely* fortunate to see a third season. It just doesn’t have that much ratings gas and it’s not exactly finding an audience, either.

    As for your not caring what most viewers or the network think, I can guarantee you’ll care what they think if your fave show isn’t still here come fall.

  • BJ

    It’s Thursday where are the Wed results?

  • Bluebells

    @thesnowleopard
    So if critics do not like a show i like, what do you want me to do, start crying? If more viewers are not watching reign which i think is awesome, do you want me to drag more people to watch it?lol. I’ll simply enjoy it while it lasts is all, you like to make a big deal out of things. Besides, the CW is developing another period drama, Painted girls which i am looking forward to.Also, reign has a 52 on rotten tomatoes, VD had a 56 in its first season which is not so far from reign’s score on rotten tomatoes right now, and yet that was one of VD’s highest rated seasons. So i don’t know why you continue to bring up critical acclaim when it comes to ratings.

  • Davie

    @tom2

    I praise everything you’re saying because I feel the same way but I just wanted to let you know it’s actually been on every day tues-friday, never Aired on Mondays before. The CW will probably move it to Mondays to try and use it as a lead-out for a new show, and fix its Monday night. Its worked for both Arrow and The Originals, not to say they wouldn’t had been successful otherwise.

  • Bluebells

    @thesnowleopard
    Its funny how when ppl don’t happen to like or watch a show that is low rated or “not critically acclaimed” as you put it.They are so fast to talk about it being a bad show because of ratings and acclaim. And taunt you about its ratings(like you don’t know) or how it will be lucky to receive a second season(incase you haven’t been reading my posts, i am one of the few reign fans who thinks the show will be cancelled, lol). You are a huge SPN fan, I wonder if you would have been if it was in its first season, had low ratings and “acclaim” but you liked it. What would you say, would you be quick to talk this much? (i mean, its doing bad because its critically hated. Give me a break, VD had a 56% in its first season and that was one of its highest rated seasons, go figure. And reign has a 52 which is not far from what VD had, yet VD’s ratings were way higher. Also, apart from Arrow, which show on that network is has crtical acclaim?) Appparently, i’ve committed a crime for liking such a low rated/”critically spat on”(lol) show. I mean, in your comments you go around in circles over the same thing, convincing me that reign is a bad show no matter how much i said its a quality show IMO.

  • Bluebells

    @thesnowleopard
    Also, the fact is that reign had mixed reviews, not negative reviews, just like any other cw show right now. It is batb that got negative reviews. And is the fact that you seem so concerned with one person’s opinion that you have to prove it wrong,because you haven’t actually WATCHED the show to see for yourself. I think so.

  • Rhaydioactive

    I love TO. I think it can do better than this. I don’t knw what U guys see in Dads, its dumb. #klaus
