Eat your heart out non-soap shows…………Soaps reign supreme for daytime tv.

Those outdoor shots of the houses on the Y & R are terrible and make the show look cheap!

  • GH50

Again GH mired in #3 and trailing in growth from previous week and year to year growth. Hit highs with the vets and Robin’s return and now back to Franco/silas-OLTL3 crap that GH fans, the one’s who came back for the 50th anniversary, don’t care about.

Total viewers up only 6% from last year. 18-49 up 8% from last year. Y&R by comparison up approx 18% in both.

GH really squandered the opportunity. The bait and switch with The Nurses Ball, the horrible handling of the Robin return story, I mean the Sabrina drama, the ridiculously and poorly written custody trial and AJ trial and now the return to Franco/Silas?Kiki- OLTL3- dominating in January has them stuck. They really need to put aside the personal agendas and do what’s best fro the show.

The week of MLK still proves to be a solid week for soaps. Glad to see it continue.

Good job by all. Hopefully they will continue to build into next week and into sweeps. Just hope they don’t drop again like they did last week.

  • Mike

One thing that the soaps have in their favor for this week is the snow storm in the south which put a lot of people at home that normally wouldn’t be there. Traditionally soaps have had good ratings in the southern states. So hopefully that is still true.

Except of course in Georgia where many people didn’t get home for many hours and spent the time in shelters, at school, at work or at school.

Interested to see how the current weeks ratings will be for the YnR with the “big” Adam reveal and the two key actor’s deparures. IMO it wasn’t all that well executed or acted (except by Greg Rikaart and Liz Hendrickson.). And has anyone else noticed that the dialogue has grown juvenile since the latest writer joined the team? She seems to have brought that overused pre-commercial “hook” with her from GH.

  • tommie

Lol @ Days tying with Community in 18-49. NBC should just put it in primetime.

  • Joseph

Yes, the cold and snowy weather did have a lot to do with the bump in soap ratings.

However, I suspect that in Atlanta (and maybe some other large Southeastern markets), daytime soaps were probably pre-empted for two or three straight days due to winter weather coverage.

  • MBmomof3

Great news. Congrats to all the shows and their fans. Looking forward to February sweeps.

  • Matt M.

GH once again, hit OVER 3.0 million viewers everyday. Great Job!

  • John Black

    Go go go soaps, go!!!

  • joshua13

Ridge had a gay affair in Paris. Lol thats funny can’t wait to see how that turns out. I think all the soaps are pretty good right now. Love it

  • Mike

I’m glad B&B has picked back up in the 18-49. I was getting concerned about their drop there.

Good to see Y&R consistently back over 5 million on a daily basis too. I didn’t know if we would ever see that again.

You are right about Atlanta. I didn’t even think about the pre-emptions for weather coverage. I’m sure there would be more pre-emptions there than for the storms that hit the northern states as they are more accustomed to that type of weather.

  • Hudson2647

Glad to see DAYS over 3 million viewers on Weds episode. Many great story lines are coming that will hopefully secure 3 million viewers weekly…. Keep up the great work!
