Y&R is still awful and DOOL is still awful. Someone on here said that the same thing I was saying….the exterior shots of the Abbott Mansion are awful and cheap looking. I do not care what the ratings say, these shows are pitiful. Get it together or cancel please.

  • Robert

GH made the wrong choice. Should have let Geary go and kept Robert Scorpio.

  • Lori Law

Yes, I live in the southern area that was hit so hard because of the weather. I had to catch up on days on YouTube because it did not air on nbc due to the weather coverage.

  • MM

I love jean Passante is working her magic at Y and R!

She was head writer at As the World Turn bringing it to it’s conclusion.

Watch Grand Ma Nikki go after that slim Ian as he tries to his clutches into Summer!!

RC has better have a Blockbuster plan for GH!!

And at Days…that sexy JJ had better shut down that annoying Theresa!

Just curious, as a fan of OLTL for 30 years and of AMC in the early 80s, is the Nina who is in a coma and married to Silas on GH, Nina Cortlandt of AMC or some character I managed to miss from OLTL? Since a lot of you seem to be very dedicated fans of many soaps past and present, I thought I would throw the question out there.

  • Mike

It can’t be a character from OLTL or AMC since Prospect Park still owns the rights to all those characters. ABC and Prospect Park are still locked in a legal battle over all that. So until it is resolved GH can’t bring any characters from OLTL or AMC to GH.

  • Lampshade

Fully realise the weather played its part, but it is great to see ratings for all soaps so high. Really enjoying YR and DOOL right now. Great to see more use of Julie Williams on DOOL reminds me of old times, and controversially am enjoying EJ and Abigail- you need conflict in story or it gets boring if everyone is happy and faithful all of the time. Keep it up!

  • Lampshade

I see Cassie de Paiva will be joining DOOL possibly as Eve Donovan sometime, and Eileen Davidson will be back as Kristen-both very welcome news!

  • Mike

Wow the CordaysFault thing on Twitter is hillarious. The Ejami fans are having a meltdown with it.

These last few months have been so funny but hard to be a soap fan. The antics of soap fans on Twitter and social media these last few months have only served to strengthen the stereotypes so many make of us.

First you have all the controversy over Chandler Massey and Guy Wilson.

Then the Muhney stuff and fans using the Internet to raise money to fly banners over the CBS studios. I mean seriously with all the worthy causes out there to raise money for they raise money to fly banners for an actor that has made more money than some of these will make in a lifetime. An actor is probably sitting back and laughing at them if truth be known.

Now they are flooding boards and social media to try and get him hired at GH or Days. Do they not realize that the same company that fired him at Y&R owns Days?

Now the meltdown from some Ejami fans over the EJ and Abigail story. They are demanding them back together or they will quit watching. Or begging James Scott to quit Days and go to another show.

I am like Lampshade, I am liking what I have seen of it so far. You do have to have conflict to keep things interesting.

JohnBoy, The fact that you said anything was acted well by Greg Rikaart shows you don’t know what good acting is. Not a mention of Billy Miller, but just “if I scrunch my face hard enough people will think i’m crying” Rikaart. Bahahahaha. Y and R’s ratings will nose dive the week of Feb 3rd and continuously thereafter….

Mike, is Prospect Park still involved in that suit? There was a story I saw somewhere to the effect that AMC and OLTL in their online formats were officially kaput and would not be returning. Is PP going to somehow use the rights to the shows’ characters in some other way?

As a huge fan of OLTL during its run on ABC, I was looking forward to the online version and hoping it would keep the showing going indefinitely. Unfortunately the show seemed like a totally different beast online. I know that was for appealing to the naturally younger demographic likely to be accessing soap operas online. But, still, the show was just too different for me to maintain interest and to pay Hulu on a continuing basis.

The reason I asked if the character was going to be Nina Cortlandt(Warner) is Carlivati’s propensity for digging up characters from ABC’s other soaps, like Delia Ryan being the mother of GH’s murderous mob cougar Ava Jerome. Another is that Nina is made to sound very wealthy and whose father appeared to strongly disapprove of Silas.

Thanks for the heads up on the continuing litigation between Prospect Park and GH/ABC and whatever other entity might be involved. Frankly I can’t see the point in continuing the fight, but what would high-priced lawyers do without clients willing to waste vast sums to win their day in court.

  • Mike

Prospect Park will continue the lawsuit no matter what. They want the money and feel they are entitled to it. As to whether they or ABC were in the wrong I straddle the fence and won’t go there.

But ABC has countered their suit with an ultimatum giving PP a year to get AMC and OLTL back on the air or the rights revert back to them.

If the judge upholds that then the rights will go back to ABC next year. If not PP contracted with ABC to hold the rights for 10 years. So if they pay ABC the yearly fees then they will have the rights to both shows for that time.

But the actual suit doesn’t go to court until the Spring. They are just in the early motions stage of the case now. They had their first motion hearings in December.

  • Mike

I cannot understand why someone at ABC has not reeled Ron C. in on Twitter.

Now he is angry over Days winning the WGA award for Best Writing and blocking people who disagree with him over it.

The rules have been there for years with the WGA. A show can win an award from the WGA even with Fi-core status writers on staff as long as they do not nominate that writer.

Every writer and every member of the union know those rules. It just comes off as childish for a head writer to take to social media and begrudge a show winning.

On a soap opera one writer does not do the whole show. It is a combined effort. The rest of the Union felt those writers at Days deserved the award.

He needs to take up the issue with the union and not act unprofessional on social media. Does he not realize as a head staff member of GH he is representing them?

It’s no different than when Michael Muhney took to Twitter and attacked Tony Geary for his win at the Emmys. Being a sore lose never looks good.

  • robert

I’m going to be interested to see Y&R’s ratings next week. This was BM and MM last week. It will be interesting to see if Y&R can keep high ratings without BM and MM.

  • Mike

What I don’t understand is people acting as if Michelle Stafford, Billy Miller and Michael Muhney are the only reasons people watch Y&R.

All 3 performers were there last year and featured prominently. The show lost viewers big time.

This year the show has added from 300,000 to 800,000 viewers to the show. Did all of those people suddenly tune in only because of those 3 and now going to be so disappointed they will tune right back out?

What made them tune out last year and all 3 were on the show then? If that is the only reason they watch then why weren’t they watching then?

  • Pat

I predict, after the “Abigail-E.J. shower scene” this coming week, Days may hit #1 in the “women 18-49 group”. Hot hot scene. Great move by Days writers for pairing these two. Can’t wait to see this story line unfold!

  • disqus_MWWIR8ctft

David Tom is going to be interesting as the nuBilly.

  • David

Great to see all 4 soaps up again. I know the cold played a part in it but I don think there are just more people watching again.

  • sands of time

Days of our Lives is explosively HOT!!!

  • sands of time
