Our Renew / Cancel Index predicts potential renewal or cancellation for scripted broadcast primetime shows by the end of the 2013-14 season in May, 2014. (includes results from December 30, 2013 - February 2, 2014):

Program Status Renew/ Cancel Index

Dracula* (F)  0.66
Community :| :| :| 0.87

Parks & Recreation :) :) :) :) 0.95
Revolution :| :| :| 1.02

The Blacklist renewed 1.77

In its first four episodes, Chicago PD has averaged 124% of NBC's 2014 scripted show ratings average. That's plenty to assure it of certain renewal by NBC. Our site's trolls to the contrary.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2014.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

As much as I love Parenthood and Revolution, they can’t bring back everything or else they wouldn’t be able to have new shows. Both Parenthood and Revolution have lower ratings, which means that it likely is the end for both, sadly.

  • Anthony Parello

Community possibly an announced 13 episode final season this fall similar to 30 Rock.
Parks and Recreation possibly an announced 22 episode final season this fall similar to The Office.

  • Setheriel

I can see both Community getting a final season as well, along with Parks. NBC will need some veteran comedies on the schedule next season, as every other comedy they have has been murdered. Keeping the Parks and Community block together would be smart, as well as moving the block to 9-10 Thursday, where it should have been all along.

  • Stacie???

Really hoping for a third season of Revolution!!!!

  • Eduardo

Plus the fact that NBC dont like the show. As much as we (the fans) want it renewed, it’s not gonna happen. Not on NBC.

  • Dante

That’s why Chicago MISfire and Chicago PUHd are far from the hits NBC would like us to believe they are. They can barely be considered utility players. What a joke.

  • Eduardo

Actually, their scripted problem is comedy because they have fairly nice numbers in drama except for Parenthood and Revolution.

  • sixseasonsandamovie

Sorry, but if this statement was true, Revolution would be thrown on a deathslot during its first season, not on the post-Voice slot.

As a fan, you are right to blame the lack of promotion, but Revolution is not a ratings self starter as it has proven during this season, it’s no Smash and it is the highest rated NBC show on that slot since a long time, but there are five NBC dramas outperforming Revolution and the show ratings look a lot better than it is because of the complete collapse of NBC comedies.

  • Michael Conway

The Blacklist is doing just fine on Monday’s at 10, why wouldn’t they leave that alone and instead insert a new drama Thursday’s at 9?

  • Patrick Ryan Williford

    Bear down!

  • Eduardo

Revolution did decent (not excellent) after its first season post-Voice slot. Now it’s on a deathslot (hard violence at 8pm, NICE WORK) because NBC renewed it when it was pulling nice numbers still in the fall. I’m not blaming the lack of promotion or the stupid timeslot because that’s not the thing.

In every single press release that NBC does on Thursday, Revolution has less mention than every other single show that airs the same day (SVU, Ironside, Dateline, whatevs) because the network is not interested in the future of the show. For me, it’s cancelled, so I’m enjoying it as much as it longs.

  • Eduardo

So you just throw The Biggest Loser and Celebrity Apprentice against Survivor. Congrats.

  • Eduardo

This Index is gonna get interesting after the Olyimpics. I’ll be waiting.

  • martin gray

the problem revolution has is , does nbc believe it enough for 1 4th season

  • Anthony

    Fat dog it!

  • Holly

The comedies are definitely a bigger problem, but I’m not sure I’d say SVU, Chicago PD, and Dracula have “fairly nice” numbers. I’ll give you Fire (with the help of Voice) and Grimm, but the others,,,

  • 69RoadRunner

    University of Arizona?

  • We Can’t Stop

Annnd Dante squirms. Go Chicago PD!

  • Eduardo

Revolution and Parenthood are the only dramas below NBC’s scripted average (not counting Dracula and Ironside because they’re cancelled or close-to). NBC is the network where a comedy pull a 0.6 and still being scheduled. I’m sure they’re pleased with their drama’s numbers.

  • TV Addict

I don’t like how low Community is on here, but I’m still holding out hope!
