Weekly Ratings Notes for Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, TBS, TNT & TruTV: ‘Sword Art Online’, ‘Cougar Town’, ‘Men at Work’, ‘Cold Justice’ & More

Adult Swim’s average Total Day Delivery across the second week of February 2014 ranked #1 among all targeted demos on basic cable—adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and men 18-24, 18-34, & 18-49. Adult Swim’s delivery during primetime increased by 3% vs. the same time period last year among men 18-34 and men 18-49.
The episode premiere of the acquired animated series, American Dad (11 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults and men 18-24, while Family Guy (10 p.m.) scored #1 in its time period among men 18-24. The episode premiere of Family Guy increased by double digits with all targeted adults and mendemos—ranging between14% and 43%. The Cleveland Show (9:30 p.m.) scored year-to-year delivery gains among adults and men 18-24—ranging between 5% and 25%.
Saturday night’s TOONAMI block series,Sword Art Online (2 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adult 18-34 and men 18-34 & 18-49.
Adult Swim’s programming—including Family Guy, Robot Chicken, and Aqua Teen HungerForce — accounted for 24 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable for the week with adults 18-34, and 28 of the top 50 with men 18-34, both more than any other network.
TBS’s hit original sitcom Cougar Town garnered strong growth with last week’s episode, drawing 2.1 million viewers in Live+3 viewing (+14% vs. the prior week). The demos also posted increases, with 1.3 million adults 18-49 (+15% vs. the prior week) and 606,000 adults 18-34 (+7%).
In its fourth week, TBS’s original sitcom Men at Work averaged 1.7 million viewers in Live+3 viewing, with 1.0 million adults 18-49.
TBS’s hit competition series King of the Nerds drew 1.4 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery for its third episode of the season, including 1.0 million adults 18-49.
TBS’s telecasts of The Big Bang Theory accounted for 19 of basic cable’s Top 20 off-net sitcom telecasts for the week among total viewers and adults 18-49.
Across the second week of February 2014, Cartoon Network ranked #1 on television for average delivery among boys 9-14on Monday Night (7-9 p.m.).
On Tuesday night, Cartoon Network scored #1 among boys 9-14 (7-9 p.m.), while increasing delivery among kids 2-11 & 6-11 and boys 2-11 vs. the same time period last year – ranging between 3% and 6%. The new episode premiere of Uncle Grandpa (8 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among kids 2-11 & kids 6-11. The original animated series also ranked #1 among all targeted boy demos, while increasing by mostly double digits across the board vs. the same time period last year – ranging between 4% and 50%.
Cartoon Network ranked #1 among boys 6-11 & 9-14 on Wednesday Night (7-9 p.m.), with the overall nightly delivery averages increasing across the board vs. the same time period last year – ranging between 14% and 45%. The episode premiere of Teen Titans GO! (7:30 p.m.) ranked #1 in its timeslot among all targeted boy demos. Additionally, the episode premiere of DreamWorks Dragons: Defenders of Berk (8 p.m.) ranked as the #1 telecast of the day among boys 9-14, and #1 in its time period among all targeted boy demos. Both premieres increased by double-digits among all targeted kids and boys vs. the same time periods year ago – ranging between 26% and 90%.
TNT’s real-life crime series Cold Justice, which has just been renewed for additional episodes, drew 1.4 million viewers in Live + Same Day delivery Friday night, with 476,000 adults 25-54 and 364,000 adults 18-49. For the season-to-date, the show has grown +9% among adults 25-54 and +22% among adults 18-49 compared to season one.
truTV’s Lizard Lick Towing hitched up 1.6 million viewers and 807,000 adults 18-49 last Monday at 9:30 p.m. And the hit series Impractical Jokers drew 1.4 million viewers and 754,000 adults 18-49 Thursday at 10 p.m. Both shows ranked among ad-supported cable’s Top 5 programs in their respective timeslots with men 18-49. In addition, Impractical Jokers scored double-digit increases over the prior week, with total viewers and adults 18-49 growing by +12% and men 18-49 up by +32%.
