ABC’s ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Grows & ‘The Goldbergs’ Beats New Girl in Adults 18-49

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (8-9pm – 5.8 million and 2.0/7 in AD18-49):

During the 8 o’clock hour, ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. grew week to week in Total Viewers (+5%) and Adults 18-49 (+11%), while spiking 25% in Adults 18-34.  In its time slot, the new ABC drama more than doubled the delivery of Fox’s Glee (2.3 million and 0.9/3) in Total Viewers (+152%) and Adults 18-49 (+122%).  In addition, S.H.I.E.L.D. tied The Voice for the lead in the hour with Men 18-34 and finished as the #1 scripted series in its slot for its 15th-consecutive original telecast with young men.


·         S.H.I.E.L.D. continued to improve the hour year to year, up by 25% in Adults 18-49 over the year-ago night with original programming.  Season to date in the key young adult sales demo, the freshman series has boosted its time period by 60% for ABC.


The Goldbergs (9-9:30pm – 4.3 million and 1.5/5 in AD18-49):

In the 9pm half-hour, ABC freshman The Goldbergs continued to outdraw Fox’s New Girl (2.4 million and 1.3/4), leading by 1.9 million viewers and by 15% in Adults 18-49.  The Goldbergs boosted its half-hour for ABC over the same night last year with original programming by 23% in Total Viewers and by 25% in Adults 18-49.  The show held steady week to week in Adults 18-49 and gained 2% in Total Viewers.


Trophy Wife (9:30-10pm – 2.9 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

In the 9:30pm half-hour, ABC’s Trophy Wife was up by double digits week to week in Total Viewers (+12%) and Adults 18-49 (+13%).  The ABC freshman comedy outdrew Fox’s freshman Brooklyn Nine-Nine by its biggest margin yet of 16% in Total Viewers (2.9 million vs. 2.5 million). 


Mind Games (10-11pm – 2.5 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

In the 10pm hour, ABC’s Mind Games was the biggest week-to-week gainer among the broadcast nets, growing 50% in Adults 18-49 from the prior Tuesday.
