THE FINAL PHASE OF THE LIGA MX 2014 CLAUSURA TOURNAMENT: LEÓN – PACHUCA LIVE ON TELEMUNDO ON MAY 15 AT 9PM/ 8CT / 6PM PT

Andrés Cantor, Sammy Sadovnik and Carlos Hermosillo present the first-leg of the Mexican league final from León Stadium in León, Guanajuato.

MIAMI – MAY 14, 2014 – Telemundo will air the first game in Mexican soccer’s 2014 Clausura Tournament, pitting reigning champ Club León vs. challenger Club Pachuca, on Thursday, May 15 at 9PM ET/ 8PM CT / 6PM PT. Veteran commentators Andrés Cantor, Sammy Sadovnik and Carlos Hermosillo will be in León, Guanajuato, bringing the action live to network screens as well as the deportestelemundo.com website, the m.telemundo.com mobile page and in high definition for mobile devices on the “Deportes Telemundo” app.

Entering the tournament as the 8thseed, Club León’s unlikely road to the final was achieved by defeating its closest rivals, and top two seeds in the tournament, Cruz Azul and Toluca.  Most recently they defeated Toluca in the semifinals winning 1-0 at home, they repeating the same score on the road in the unfriendly confines of Nemesio Diez for a 2-0 WIN ON AGGREGATE.

Pachuca, who entered the postseason as the 6thseed, also eliminated two PLAYOFF favorites on THEIR way to the final, beating Pumas ON AGGREGATE 5-3, and tying its next closest rival SANTOS, 4-4.

Telemundo broadcast the first game in the 2013 Apertura Tournament, in which León won a resounding 2-0 victory over Club América. León took home the championship with a second 3-1 win over the capital team with a cumulative score of 5 goals vs. its rival’s 1.

Telemundo recently acquired the rights to broadcast Club Pachuca home games in the US market, making the 2014 Clausura Tournament the perfect segue to the 2014 Opening Tournament beginning in July.

Whatever the result of this final series, Telemundo will be the home of Mexico’s soccer champs in the next tournament.
