48 HOURS: “The Lost Daughter” was Monday’s #1 broadcast at 10:00 PM with viewers, according to preliminary Nielsen live plus same day ratings for June 2, 2014. “The Lost Daughter” delivered 6.13 million viewers.
Monday’s broadcast featured Tracy Smith and 48 HOURS’ report on the search for Tiffany Sessions, a Florida college student who went out for a walk in 1989 and never returned. The disappearance launched a massive search driven by her father, marketing executive Pat Sessions, which continues today.
As Smith reported during the hour, the Alachua County Sheriff’sbelieves a man convicted for killing another student, killed Sessions. However, the search for any trace of the woman continues today. The 48 HOURS team has been reporting on Sessions’ disappearance for more than five years and was there earlier this year when members of the Alachua County Sheriff’s excavated the trees and underbrush where another student was found dead 22 years earlier. Police believe the same site was the serial killer’s burial ground.
“The Lost Daughter” was the second of four original 48 HOURS broadcasts to air Monday nights at 10:00 PM.
48 HOURS: “The Lost Daughter” is produced by Chris Young Ritzen and Tamara Weitzman. Aimee deSimone is the associate producer. Joan Adelman, Gary Winter and Doreen Schechter are the editors. Peter Schweitzer is the senior producer. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
