‘Game of Thrones’ is huge on Google too

We already knew that Game of Thrones is the biggest show in the history of HBO. Turns out — surprise! — it’s really big on the Internet too.

Google has released search data for TV shows in May, and the HBO show is the runaway leader. Google normalizes its data on a scale of 0 to 100, with the top show — Thrones, in this case — receiving a 100. What’s telling, though, is that the No. 2 show on the list, American Idol, only got a 46, less than half of what GoT drew.

And here’s a graph showing the daily search volume for May for the Top 5 shows: Game of Thrones, Idol, Dancing With the Stars, Saturday Night Live and The Voice. While Thrones far and away had the highest average search volume, DWTS had the biggest single-day volume on May 21, the day after its finale.
