CBS NEWS’ “FACE THE NATION WITH BOB SCHIEFFER” FINISHES
FIRST IN SECOND QUARTER 2014
Television Year-to-Date, “Face the Nation” Is the #1 Sunday Morning Public Affairs Show
CBS News’ FACE THE NATION WITH BOB SCHIEFFER finished first in viewers (2.87m) and adults 25-54 (0.7/03, tied with ABC) – the demographic most important to those who advertise in News – in second quarter 2014, according to Nielsen’s most current ratings. FACE THE NATION finished first in viewers for the third consecutive second quarter.
Television year-to-date, FACE THE NATION is first in viewers (3.20m) and adults 25-54 (0.8/04). Compared to last year, FACE THE NATION is up +1% in viewers (from 3.17m) and even in adults 25-54.
On Sunday, June 29, FACE THE NATION posted a 1.9/05 with 2.59m viewers and 0.6/03 in adults 25-54. Compared to the same day last year, FACE THE NATION was even in adults 25-54.
The June 29th broadcast of FACE THE NATION focused on the situation in Iraq with CBS News Correspondent Charlie D’Agata reporting from Baghdad. Bob Schieffer interviewed Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), Chairman of the HouseSecurity Committee; Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) of the Senate Armed Services Committee; and Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY). Schieffer also hosted a panel with CBS News State Department Correspondent Margaret Brennan; Michael Crowley of Time magazine; and James Jeffrey, former U.S. Ambassador to Iraq. Schieffer hosted an additional panel on politics featuring Peggy Noonan of the Wall Street Journal; Michael Gerson of The Washington Post; Dee Dee Myers, Vanity Fair contributing editor and former press secretary to President Clinton; and Todd Purdum, Vanity Fair contributing editor and author of An Idea Whose Time Has Come.
