The Soup Receives an Emmy Nomination for True Detective Spoof—Watch the Hilarious Clip!
Congratulations are in order for The Soup!
The E! show received an Emmy nomination this morning for the Best Short-Form Live Action Entertainment Program for its True Detective spoof.
Host Joel McHale took to Twitter to express his appreciation, writing, "Hey! @TheSoup--Nom'd for Emmy---Outstanding Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program for our #TrueDetective bit. Thx @TelevisionAcad!
Community's Jim Rash takes on the role of Detective Marty Hart while McHale does his best Detective Rust Cohle impression, rambling on in the most confusing—but utterly hilarious—manner (don't you just love Joel with a mustache?!).
As for the show's category competition?
The comedy series will be going up against Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis: President Barack Obama (FunnyOrDie.com), Children's Hospital (Adult Swim), Parks and Rec in Europe (NBC.com) and Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show Starring Bruno Mars (Fox). The winners for the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced on Aug. 25, during a ceremony at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles.
The Soup is currently airing live episodes every Wednesday at 10/9c on E! and will continue to do so through the month of August.
Hosted by Joel McHale, the series premiered in 2004 as a revamped version of Talk Soup, which previously received four Daytime Emmy nods and won an Emmy for Outstanding Special Class Program in 1995.
Congrats to the entire Soup team!
