FOX News Channel is Wednesday’s Most Watched Cable News Channel; Multiple Programs hit Ratings Highs

FOX News Channel (FNC) was the top-rated cable news network yesterday in both Total Day and Primetime in both total viewers and adults 25-54 for coverage of the breaking news in Ferguson and the murder of US journalist James Foley.  FNC swept primetime, averaging 2.7 million viewers and 540,000 adults 25-54 from 8-11PM.  The O’Reilly Factor was FNC’s top program, with 3.3 million total viewers and 615,000 adults 25-54. Additionally, FNC won every hour from 6am-3am in total viewers and posted several program highs for 2014:


  • Outnumbered (12-1PM/ET) delivered an all-time high with 310,000 in A25-54.


  • Happening Now (11AM-12PM/ET and 1-2PM/ET) delivered its third highest rated with 300,000 A25-54.


  • Real Story with Gretchen Carlson (2-3PM/ET) delivered a high with 1,394,000 P2+ and second highest demo this year with 263,000


  • Hannity (10-11PM/ET) delivered its second highest rated P2+ with 2,217,000 and third highest rated A25-54 of 2014 with 475,000.

CNN: 921,000 total viewers (362,000 Adults 25-54)
