TNT's Rizzoli & Isles ranked as basic cable's top series telecast last week, followed by the season finale of TNT's new hit The Last Ship.
Rizzoli & Isles has grown to 7.4 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery for last week's episode, including 2.3 million adults 25-54 and 1.8 million adults 18-49. Its Tuesday night companion series, Perception, closed out its summer run with 4 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery, including 1.3 million adults 25-54 and 1 million adults 18-49.
The Last Ship's season finale drew an initial Live + Same Day audience of 4.4 million viewers (+6% vs. the prior week). Combined with its 11 p.m. encore, the season finale has so far garnered more than 5.6 million viewers, with 2.1 million adults 25-54 and 1.7 million adults 18-49.
The first part of Falling Skies’ two-part season finale scored growth over the prior week, with an initial Live + Same Day audience of 2.6 million viewers (+4%). Combined with its midnight encore, Falling Skies' season finale part 1 has so far brought in 3.4 million viewers, with 1.5 million adults 25-54 and 1.2 million adults 18-49.
Across the fourth week of August 2014, Adult Swim again claimed basic cable’s crown for the #1 network in Total Day delivery among adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and men 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49.
Adult Swim’s newest original comedy series Black Jesus (Thursday, 11 p.m.) continued its ratings growth trajectory by ranking #1 in its time period among all targeted adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and men 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49.
Within Saturday night’s TOONAMI block, Attack on Titans (11:30 p.m.), Bleach (12 a.m.), Space Dandy (12:30 a.m.), and One Piece (1:30 a.m.) each ranked #1 in their respective time periods among adults 18-24 and men 18-24. Additional series Gurren Lagann (2 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among men 18-24 & 18-34, while Naruto: Shippuden (1 a.m.), Beware the Batman (2:30 a.m.) and Black Lagoon (3 a.m.) all ranked #1 in their respective time periods among men 18-24.
Adult Swim programming – including, , Black Jesus and – accounted for 22 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable for the week among adults 18-34, and 23 of the top 50 with men 18-34, both more than any other network.
Across the fourth week of August 2014, Cartoon Network original programming – including new episodes of Teen Titans Go!, The Amazing World of Gumball, Steven Universe and Uncle Grandpa – claimed all top 15 telecasts of the week among boys 6-11.
Charting growth across all targeted kid demos, Cartoon Network also continued last week to rank as television’s #1 network for Total Day delivery of boys 6-11 & 9-14, and #1 for Early Prime (6p-8p) delivery among all targeted boy demos. Average Total Day delivery increased by double digits among kids 2-11 (+18%), kids 6-11 (+19%) and kids 9-14 (+15%). Early Prime also earned solid growth vs. the same time period last year—kids 2-11 improved by 29%, kids 6-11 by 18%, and kids 9-14 by 2%.
Out-performing all competition, Cartoon Network claimed the #1 television destination among kids 2-11 & 6-11 and all targeted boy demos on Thursday Night (6-8 p.m.). The Early Prime performance grew across all kids/boys demos, ranging from 2% to 51%. A new episode premiere of Teen Titans Go! (6 p.m.) scored as the #1 telecast of the day among kids 2-11 and boys 2-11 & 6-11, earning 62% to 88% delivery gains across kids/boys 2-11 & 6-11. Similarly, the new episode premieres of Steven Universe (6:30 p.m.), The Amazing World of Gumball (7 p.m.) and Uncle Grandpa (7:30 p.m.) each ranked #1 in their respective time periods among kids 2-11 & 6-11 and all targeted boys.
Cartoon Network also ranked as the #1 television network among kids 2-11 and all targeted boys on Wednesday and Sunday Night. Monday night delivery averages also increased among kids/boys 2-11 and boys 6-11 between 5% and 22%. Tuesday and Wednesday night delivery averages increased among kids 2-11/6-11 and boys 2-11/6-11 between 4% and 31%. Friday night delivery averages increased among kids 2-11 by 7% and kids 9-14 by 9%.
Saturday morning programming (7-11 a.m.) earned double-digit delivery gains across all targeted kids/boys demos, ranging between 11% and 59% vs. the same time period last year. Among the standouts, Legends of Chima (7:30 a.m.) ranked #1 in its timeslot among all boys, while Pokémon the Series XY (8 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among boys 6-11 & 9-14. Both new episode premieres grew all targeted kids/boys delivery vs. last year, ranging from 5% to 123%.
Tuesday’s episode of TBS's Sullivan & Son has attracted more than 1.9 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery, a +14% boost over the prior week. In key demos, the episode has so far garnered 1 million adults 18-49 (+6% vs. the prior week) and 402,000 adults 18-34.
truTV's hit seriesand each garnered 1.5 million viewers in Live + Same Day delivery last week. Both shows ranked among cable's Top 5 entertainment programs in their respective timeslots with men 18-49 and scored double-digit growh over the prior week. also scored a Top 5 ranking with men 18-34.
