‘New Girl’ renewed for Season 6 on FOX
Add “New Girl” to the list of FOX shows returning for 2016-17.
The network on Monday gave a sixth-season renewal to to the comedy starring Zooey Deschanel. Though “New Girl’s” ratings are off a bit vs. last year (1.2 same-day rating in adults 18-49 vs. 1.3 in 2014-15), the pickup is no surprise.
“Every network comedy should aspire to what [creator] Liz Meriwether is achieving in ‘New Girl,'” FOX Entertainment president David Madden says in a statement. “… The series is as creatively strong today as it ever was, and we can’t wait for the next subversive and hilarious chapter in these characters’ lives.”
“New Girl” is the third live-action half-hour FOX has picked up for next season, along with “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “The Last Man on Earth.” (Animated comedies “Bob’s Burgers” and “The Simpsons” will also return.) It joins this list of shows that have been renewed for 2016-17 and beyond.
