‘The Muppets,’ ‘Agent Carter,’ ‘Galavant’ and ‘The Family’ canceled at ABC
ABC has given the ax to a pair of first-year shows and sophomore series “Agent Carter” and “Galavant.”
“The Muppets” and “The Family” also join the canceled ranks at the network. None of them comes as a particular surprise. All three struggled in the ratings, and “Agent Carter” star Hayley Atwell is leading a new ABC drama, “Conviction,” that was part of the new series orders ABC handed out Thursday.
“The Muppets” started well in the fall, premiering to a 2.9 rating in adults 18-49. It dropped off rather quickly, however, and never broke 1.0 after it returned from a winter break. It ended up averaging a 1.3 same-day rating for the season.
“Agent Carter” averaged a 0.8 for its second season, down from 1.5 for Season 1. “The Family” also averaged a 0.8, lower than the canceled “Blood & Oil” did in the same Sunday slot in the fall.
“Galavant,” a surprise renewal last season, ended up as ABC’s lowest-rated show this season with a CW-level 0.6 in the 18-49 demo.
