‘Speechless’ comedy picked up to series at ABC for 2016-17
ABC wasn’t quite done with its new series pickups after Thursday.
The network has ordered a family comedy called “Speechless” to series. It stars Minnie Driver and and John Ross Bowie as Maya and Jimmy, the parents of special-needs child JJ (Micah Fowler, who in real life has cerebral palsy). The cast also includes Kyla Kennedy and Mason Cook as the family’s other kids and Cedric Yarbrough as a staff member at JJ’s school.
Scott Silveri (“Friends,” “Go On”) created the show and executive produces with Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar (“Fresh Off the Boat”).
“Speechless” is the fourth new comedy ABC has ordered for 2016-17 to go along with five new dramas. Go here for a rundown of all the new shows on the broadcast networks.
