‘Code Black,’ ‘Odd Couple,’ ‘Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders’ and ‘Undercover Boss’ renewed at CBS
CBS has renewed three of the five scripted series that were still in limbo ahead of the network’s upfront presentation. It’s not looking good for the remaining two.
First-year dramas “Code Black” and “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” will return in 2016-17, as will second-year comedy “The Odd Couple.” CBS also has picked up another season of its unscripted show “Undercover Boss.”
There’s no official word, meanwhile, on either “Limitless” or “Rush Hour,” but both are looking more like they’ll be one and done at CBS. There has been talk of “Limitless” being shopped around, but it’s nothing more than that at the moment.
“Code Black” averaged just under a 1.3 same-day rating in adults 18-49 on Wednesdays this season, rising to a 2.0 in Live +7. “Beyond Borders” has pulled essentially the same numbers (1.4 same-day/2.0 L +7) since taking over the time period from “Code Black.”
“The Odd Couple,” meanwhile, has been a surprisingly steady performer since its return in April, averaging 1.5 — right in line with the network’s same-day average — across its Monday and Thursday airings.
