‘Mr. Robot’ Season 2 gets more episodes and an after-show
“Mr. Robot” Season 2 is getting an upgrade, with USA Network adding two additional episodes to the drama’s episode order. Season 2 will premiere with two back-to-back episodes, presented with limited commercial interruption at 10 p.m. ET/PT July 13, followed by a special live after-show.
The drama will expand from its previously ordered 10 episodes to 12, with “Mr. Robot” creator Sam Esmail directing all 12 installments. The live after-show, “Hacking Robot,” will debut immediately following the season premiere.
“The first season of ‘Mr. Robot’ was everything we hoped for — and then some,” says Chris McCumber, who heads Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “So it’s no surprise that Sam and team have raised the bar even more in Season 2. From the first moments of the new season, it’ll be clear that audiences are in for something incredibly special and wholly unexpected.”
The thriller follows Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek), a cyber-security engineer who becomes involved in the underground hacker group fsociety, after being recruited by their mysterious leader (Christian Slater). The July 13 episodes will pick up 30 days after the now infamous fsociety 5/9 hack on multi-national company Evil Corp. Season 2 will explore the consequences of that attack as well as the illusion of control.
