‘Houdini & Doyle’ and ‘Donny!’ canceled after one season each
File both of these under the “not surprising in any way” category: FOX has canceled its period buddy-cop show “Houdini & Doyle” after one season, and USA has done the same with its semi-scripted comedy “Donny!”
“Houdini & Doyle” premiered late in the season on FOX and ran through early July. It premiered to a 0.7 same-day rating in adults 18-49 and never got above that, finishing the season with averages of 0.5 and 2.14 million viewers.
“Donny!,” starring advertising executive and TV talking head Donny Deutsch as a not-quite-real version of himself, also fared poorly. Its premiere following an episode of “Chrisley Knows Best” lost about two-thirds of its lead-in, and the six-episode season never really gained any kind of traction.
