ABC’s “Bachelor in Paradise” seems to be the best counterprogramming any broadcast network has come up with opposite the Summer Olympics. Monday’s show scored a 1.3 1.4 rating in adults 18-49, even with the past two weeks.

As for the Olympics themselves, they continued a couple of trends: far outdistancing everything else on TV but falling in the second week of competition. Monday’s  6.9 demo rating and 23.94 million viewers was down from 8.6 and 28.76 million last week and off from the 8.3 rating for the comparable night in 2012.

The night’s only other original show, “Mistresses,” was even with last week’s 0.5.

Network averages:

NBC ABC CBS FOX CW
Adults 18-49 rating/share 6.9/24 1.1/4 0.7/3 0.4/1 0.3/1
Total Viewers (millions) 23.94 3.87 3.38 1.39 1.06

Late night: NBC’s shows are off for the Olympics, and CBS and ABC are in reruns.

Note: An earlier version of this post incorrectly stated “Bachelor in Paradise’s” adults 18-49 rating. It was 1.4, as now corrected above.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings are available at approximately 11 a.m. ET the day after telecast. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns.
Share (of Audience):
The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time.
Time Shifted Viewing:
Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live +Same-Day and Live +7 Day. Time-shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+SD includes viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3 a.m. local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live +7 ratings include  viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
