Friday final ratings: Olympics adjust up, ‘Superstore’ adjusts down but still at series high

Final broadcast primetime live + same-day ratings for Friday, Aug. 19, 2016

The Olympics episode of “Superstore” came down some from its early ratings on Friday, but it still scored a series high by a wide margin.

The episode, which started at 10:34 p.m. ET, adjusted down three tenths of a point in the final nationals to a 3.0 among adults 18-49. That’s still a full point better than its previous series high, and nearly double its Season 1 average of 1.6.

The Olympics themselves adjusted up to a 5.5 after factoring out a commercial-free portion of the broadcast at the start of primetime. All of ABC’s and CBS’ shows adjusted down thanks to pre-emptions for NFL preseason games.

Upward adjustments in adults 18-49 are green; downward adjustments are in red.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings are available at approximately 11 a.m. ET the day after telecast. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Time Shifted Viewing:
 Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live +Same-Day and Live +7 Day. Time-shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+SD includes viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3 a.m. local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live +7 ratings include  viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
