Broadcast primetime live + same-day ratings for Monday, Sept. 1, 2016

Note: ABC stations in Washington, D.C., Pittsburgh, Los Angeles and San Francisco carried “Monday Night Football,” so the network’s ratings are subject to significant adjustments in the final nationals.

The numbers for Monday:

Time Show Adults 18-49 Rating/Share Viewers (millions)
8 p.m. Dancing With the Stars (ABC) (8-10 p.m.) – P 2.6/9 13.66

The premiere of “Dancing With the Stars” may end up as Monday’s top-rated show, but its numbers are currently inflated by pre-emptions for “Monday Night Football” in four big markets. The show’s 2.6 rating in adults 18-49 will likely end up somewhere in the neighborhood of last season’s premieres (2.1 in fall, 1.8 in spring).

Elsewhere, the finale of “American Ninja Warrior” (1.7) was up 0.2 vs. last week’s fast nationals (it adjusted up to 1.6 in the finals). “Running Wild with Bear Grylls” rose two tenths to a 1.2. The finale of “So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation” posted a 0.7 for FOX, up two tenths from last week.

Definitions:
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings are available at approximately 11 a.m. ET the day after telecast. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns.
Share (of Audience):
The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time.
Time Shifted Viewing:
Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live +Same-Day and Live +7 Day. Time-shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+SD includes viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3 a.m. local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live +7 ratings include  viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
