The 2016 Emmys are the least-watched Emmys ever
The 2015 Emmys were the least-watched on record — until Sunday, when the 2016 Emmys became the least-watched on record.
Updated figures from ABC put the show at 11.3 million viewers and a 2.8 rating among adults 18-49. That’s down from 11.87 million and a 3.6 for FOX’s telecast of the awards last year.
The awards have now declined for three years running after averaging 17.8 million viewers and a 4.9 demo rating on CBS in 2013. Those awards in turn were the highest-rated since 2006.
Jimmy Kimmel hosted the awards and earned mostly positive reviews for his performance. “Game of Thrones,” “The People v. O.J. Simpson” and “Veep” were the night’s big winners.
