I have become a big fan of Cougar Town.  Like many, I have enjoyed the ongoing self-mocking of the show’s name in the title cards, but tonight’s (cropped image above)  might have been my favorite title card yet.  “Hi Dance fans, Please still be there…”

Cougar Town was indeed back Monday night, with a special dose of Dancing With the Stars lead-in love, perhaps as an assist to help overcome a lengthy two plus month hiatus. It returns to its normal day this Wednesday.

In its last Wednesday episode before hiatus on February 2, Cougar Town scored a 2.7 adults 18-49 rating (up from the previous week’s 2.0 when it did not have a new Modern Family as a lead-in).  It’ll be interesting to see how Cougar Town did on Monday night, as well as how it does in its Wednesday return.  Fans don’t need to worry,  Cougar Town has already been renewed for next season.

Update: based on the early metered market numbers (just household ratings, no viewer totals or 18-49), only 39% as many people were watching ABC from 9:30-10p as were watching DWTS fom 9-9:30p.
